Today's my 19 year vegan anniversary. So much changed from decision no longer harm animals for food, entertainment, clothing, personal care products. World opened in ways I never imagined, healed my heart, allowed compassion emerge for all who suffer. Veganism rewired my brain and heart.
Speciesism belief humans superior to animals - eat, wear, be entertained, experimented on, bred for pets; animals not worthy moral consideration; sentience not recognized. Similar discrimination - race/ethnicity, sex, queerness, disability, religion. Another form of evil, sanctioned by most humans.
ALF is global, leaderless, animal rights movement. Engage direct action to end animal exploitation. Liberate animals from labs, fur farms, shutting them down via economic sabotage. Target animal industries. Guideline strictly instruct members avoid harming human or non-human animals during actions.

We share 98% DNA with chimps. They don't create weapons to kill larger numbers. Highly intelligent, use complex tools, exhibit diverse social behaviors, laugh, hug, kiss. Some engage in same-sex behaviors. Sorry religious folk! We should be honored to share DNA with them, they should be horrified!

@anitakrajnc.bsky.social started a global movement. @animalsave58.bsky.social - citizens hold vigils for animal victims at slaughterhouses. Vigils are powerful, bearing witness has value. Acknowledging animals driven to slaughter, you're likely only human to show them compassion, kindness and love.

I was wearing this shirt at farmer's market. A human, who looked like Michael Pollan, approached to say how much he loved it. Eating is more complex than putting calories into your body. Food choices affect animals, planet, health. Make choices as if you give a damn, spare animals from violence.
Farmed animal sanctuaries rescue abused cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep and others. They provide lifetime care and rehabilitation. About 1,500 sanctuaries in U.S. Not nearly enough. They educate on violence inherent in meat, dairy, egg production. And promote a vegan diet and lifestyle.
The truth of the matter is veganism gives us many gifts, one such gift is gaining a sense of inner peace by being in alignment with values of compassion, love, nonviolence, fairness, justice. As one makes choices to abstain from eating and using animals, one's world opens up in beautiful ways.
Between 200 - 250 million turkeys are slaughtered for food in U.S. every year. About 46 million turkeys are killed for Thanksgiving. 22 million for Christmas. Nearly 99 percent of these turkeys come from factory farms. They are slaughtered at 12–16 weeks old. Mere babies.
"Humane meat" is marketing nonsense make consumers feel better purchasing food is the product of violence, terror. Products come from animals raised on factory farms. Product packaging feature images of happy animals in green pastures, truth of living conditions crowded warehouses, filth, misery.
Hunting is no sport. Only one side has weapons of destruction. Wouldn't it be nice to arm animals so they had a fighting chance? Canned hunting - trophy hunt where animals are kept in confined areas like fenced ranch to prevent their escape, make tracking easier for the hunter.

Non-vegans believe meat that is marked "humane" or any number of marketing slogans, go to slaughterhouses where they're treated to tea and a snack before being led to a mattress where they're given a pill that makes them sleep. All slaughterhouses are brutal, bloody and violent.
Every strip of bacon, slice of ham, came from a mother - pigs are killed at 6 months of age, you're eating a baby.
Gestation crates lock pregnant sows for 4 months, while farrowing crates hold them during birth. These cause severe physical/mental distress, restrict natural behaviors. Cruelty.
Funny how non-vegans claim "their" meat, dairy, eggs come from small farms where animals are loved & never die.
In the U.S., 99% of poultry & pork comes from factory farms - 99.9% of broiler chickens, 99.8% of turkeys, 98.3–98.6% of pigs.

Meat (dairy,eggs) is disgusting. Meat is decomposing flesh of an animal killed against their will. One needs to refrigerate/freeze meat returning from store, cook met at high temperature to kill any bacteria like Salmonella, so the meat does not kill you. That is quite disgusting. And dangerous.

1.4 billion animals are killed in leather industry annually for their skins - cows, sheep, goats. 20 million animals are killed annually for fur. About 672 million animals - Merino sheep, goats, alpacas are used for wool. After wool production declines, they're slaughtered.

It's not enough to extend compassion towards fellow humans. Nonhuman animals suffer deeply, precisely due to humans. Compassion asks us to push through speciesism and recognize ourselves in all sentient beings. Ceasing to use and eat animals will bring us closer to the peace we envision.
Would like to rewrite “A Christmas Carol.” The main character is visited by the ghosts of animals past that he played a role in killing for food, clothing and entertainment. At the end, he realizes the ethical choice is to go vegan. The animal ghosts congratulate him, move on to next nonvegan.
All individuals desire to live. It’s built into sentient being’s DNA. It’s more than just instinct.
Taking away an individual’s right to life is unethical. Therefore, the ethical choice is vegan.
