Oh that’s *your* pigeonloft on top of University Gardens
Just wanted to say thanks for a wonderful event yesterday. (Sorry I had to leave early). The people I met, talked to and played with were lovely and a lot of that is linked to the amazing work you do in building a fantastic sense of community - thank you!
This is just click-beeth
Nope - universities just can’t afford to keep the lights on at the moment.

**Deadline tomorrow!** A reminder of this opportunity at @uofglasgow.bsky.social for a Research & Teaching post in #CelticStudies, lasting almost 3 years.
I've caved and created a substack where I'll post bloggish things in relation to my critical edition of George Moore's 'Confessions of a Young Man' every Monday for the next few weeks.

Oh no - this is horrible news. Such a lovely and kind man.
Left side of image shows writer's old profile picture; right side of image shows writer's current profile - an aging man, strangely reminiscent of a figure from the Lord of the Rings movies
Went to get my photograph taken - my current profile picture dates from 18 years ago. Don't think I've changed much.
The funny thing for me now is I didn't use half of the thoughts I put together in the blog for the introduction (you can get hold of the published book here: www.mhra.org.uk/publications...). So the posts are a window back into that weird period during COVID where I was trying to formulate my ideas
My edition of George Moore's Confessions of a Young Man is out with @themhra.bsky.social and I've been posting links to some blogging I did back in 2021, as I drafted the introduction, including this long-ish ramble about the word 'perverse'

Along the same lines - here's a blog post asking 'Who was George Moore' (in case you don't know who he is - or indeed why you should read my critical edition of his novel 'Confessions of a Young Man'):

During lockdown, I started assembling material for the introduction to my critical edition of George Moore's Confessions of a Young Man on a blog. I'll post a few links here, in case anyone is interested or wants a preview:
