arirang is also bts looking back on their own past and realising they've done what their forebears had done over 100 years ago. they've always wished they had another idol group to look up to and show them the way; this is them realising they had that, over a century ago, in 7 other young korean men

I find it so significant that BTS have never made their faces or likeness the focus of their group album covers. It was always a very conceptual graphic design that placed the focus on the music rather than themselves. But this moment right now—it’s about them as artists. It’s perfect.
