In the USA “wrath” would be pronounced to rhyme with “math.” But in British English it often rhymes with “moth.”

Fwiw a lot of people are saying Siskind’s post is misleading (I haven’t watched the video myself but I think they’re probably right)
This still cracks me up when I think about it

I am racking my brain… the only Spitz offspring I can think of is Jonathan but I know there must be more that I am not thinking of
I want one where the Marines are the villains
Oh this is really cool! A Spitz/Ben Davis cross. Looks delicious
Meanwhile Netanyahu will do everything in his power to deny Jewish votes to the Dems. It is just a very shitty equilibrium and until we break free from it one way or another Israel will continue to lose ground with mainstream Dems.
I think the worry here is that Dems will use the Biden strategy, Netanyahu will outlast them, and then Republicans will ratify whatever crazy settlement shit Israel has done in the meantime
One thing Dems have really internalized, I think, is that Netanyahu has picked sides in American partisan politics and the Dems have no fruitful way to engage with Israel at the governmental level
I have a sinking feeling in my gut that Netanyahu or his allies will be in charge indefinitely. I really hope not.
I mean fine, I suppose the Democratic mainstream is still Zionist by that definition. But I think it is increasingly hostile to Israeli policy and skeptical of Netanyahu and the Israeli government broadly.
The line that mainstream Dems have not crossed and will not cross is being pro-Hamas.
I’m not sure to what extent it penetrated consciousness nationally, but the South had absolutely ridiculous blackouts this winter when ice storms took out above-ground power lines. Now admittedly they are very sprawled out.
Like I think Schumer-style deference to the Israeli state is losing ground but what is replacing it is humanitarian concern for Palestinians, not antipathy to the Israeli people
Really? In American left/liberal spaces I think there is a pretty durable pro-Ukraine, middle-ground-on-Israel (anti-settlement, two state) position that is increasingly taking over the Dem mainstream
World going one way, people the other
Disagree. The distortion is pretty small for small taxes. I am not saying the policy would be net beneficial, but in terms of public perception you’d have tens of billions to dole out to favored constituencies at little perceived cost
Bernanke frankly the better choice

Having some of the most thoroughly redacted thoughts of my life.
I am not going to be able to find it now but Vasily Grossman has a similar passage in Stalingrad or Life and Fate. Basically, he walks through what you do when you murder someone and then he says (paraphrasing from memory): “And the Germans did this millions of times over”
No longer accepting turkey carcasses these days

Handshake meme, Trump and Margaret Thatcher
I think there is a way to thread the needle. A flat 5% tariff would not be all that distortionary, but it would raise a decent amount of revenue. Earmark that to something popular and you could probably come out ahead in terms of public opinion.
