Mamdani winning is a great thing for YIMBYs nationwide. It both validates YIMBYism with lefty voters nationwide, and also encourages lefty candidates to support pro-housing policy since it shows Left-YIMBYism is a very viable winning coalition.

the more i think about this the more i think that his campaign was a showcase for how centrists *say* they want democrats to campaign. the issue is that what this looks like varies from place to place. i would not expect mamdani to be able to win in virginia, but a mamdani-style campaign could!

The path for Democrats is very clear: have good ideas, believe in them, state them clearly, stick to them, act decisively in support of these ideas, speak to the young half of the electorate, support other democrats who do these things. Follow Mamdani and Lander's example or fade into nothingness.

The Comptroller getting arrested *was* a publicity stunt, but not by the Comptroller.

The stunt:

1. Instigate a light scuffle while a public figure is protecting an immigrant.

2. Arrest them; threaten charges.

3. Release them w/o charges.

Now everyone is afraid to protect immigrants.

None of this would be happening if Kamala were president.

A few thoughts on the Jack Jouett primary. @sallyforsupervisor.bsky.social won for a few reasons: first, she had better ideas. Pro-housing policies are very popular! County politics often get stuck in the mud and she figured out how to navigate them in a forward thinking, results oriented way.
