Every year we scramble to get out of town before they arrive and every year they start arriving before we leave (frazzled). Do not like.

Today, on International Day of People with Disabilities, I remain greatly distressed by how disabled folks who need accommodations like masks mandatory/clean air/remote options have been excluded from public life for 4 years.

This needs to change. Many disabilities have been missing from EDI.

While I don’t concede that masks are uncomfortable, I also don’t care if people think they’re uncomfortable. Many articles of clothing are uncomfortable, but we accept “no shirt, no shoes, no service” as default. A lot more people are harmed by airborne viruses than by someone shirtless.

not only is taking covid caution in your daily life a form of community care, but it’s a crucial strategy necessary to sustain your commitments—we cannot afford to catch and transmit covid constantly while organizing for liberation and it’s antithetical to disability justice to pretend otherwise.

So many Covid cases in Nova Scotia right now. This is a great @protectbc.bsky.social resource about at-home rapid tests. It's important to re-test at least 48 hrs after symptoms start & then again after another 48 hrs. Most tests can be used up to 24 months after the manufacturing date!

If it seems like a lot of people have Covid right now, it's because they do! Nova Scotia is still rated severe. Keep testing, wear a well-fitted N95-type mask, avoid crowded indoor spaces!

We Interrupt This Mood of Denial to Update COVID’s Threat | The Tyee Recent studies on long COVID and more show why, beyond vaccines, masks and air filters remain vital.

"Compared with a previous time during the pandemic, infections are 25 times higher and the rate of long COVID is 19 times higher. Meanwhile the hospitalization rate is 13 times higher and deaths are 25 times higher." Despite the research about health impacts of COVID infection, we ignore it #cdnnews

NS, if you don't start taking precautions, it's likely that you'll become sick with Covid. We're experiencing the highest rates of infection in the country: 1 of every 20 Nova Scotians is infected. Test, wear a well-fitted mask (N95), stay home if you're sick, ventilate, turn on those HEPA units!

People need to know how bad things are right now for COVID-19 infections. NS is the worst in the country, 1 in 20 infected, over 30k infections last week, and in our only update from CMOH Strang in months he downplayed infections and testing. covid19resources.ca/covid-hazard...

We need a permanent free N95 mask program. N95s protect against multiple health threats including COVID and bad air quality. Every person should be able to have N95 masks sent to their house free of charge, or be able to pick up free N95s from a local community center.
