I also think that the conflation of creative limiting/pandering to the cut-off of potential or a sense of cheapness. isn’t always sound. Sometimes a limit can be the jumping off point to great creativity. And if pandering can be executed well enough to be multidimensional, is it truly cheap?
Honestly I rarely see action scenes as integrated into a complex narrative than Arcane’s. Even in anime, there’s a lot of fluffy “beat this guy to win tournament” fights. But nearly EVERY fight in Arcane has narrative weight behind it. In a way, Arcane already fulfilled its own potential with that

There are comics that are just symbols and vague vibes! Just draw them in order and you have a comic. After that, if you want to refine them, all you have to do is edit/draw them into shape afterwards. Like from a really rough sketch to a finished illustration
