And I’m not defending the morality of it, just my POV with a legal lens. If distance from Iran constitutes it as a non-combatant, then the strikes on Cyprus, which are about the same distance as the ship was from Iran, breaks that argument IMO
I am against the illegal war as much as anyone, however, I do not think the sinking of this ships constitutes a war crime. The closest claim would be hors de combat but even that is thin since the exercise was over.
