It wasn't. there was a veting team that used it to look up controversies on potential panelists. That work was scrapped and rerun manually.

This looks like a game changer for blind and other print disabled folks, as it means audio books will be of better quality, and more available, than they would otherwise.
I've never heard of this company before, but looking at their website, it's using the term AI because that's popular right now, but it isn't generative AI. It's analyzing the content of a human-written text to produce a narration that is better than the traditional monotone of a robot narration.
Badges will be picked up in the lobby of the Summit building. Hours are posted here seattlein2025.org/program-and-...
For those who might want an offline version of the @seattlein2025.org schedule: we're now posting both ePub and PDF versions to the schedule page on our website.

should be fixed
I've notified the web team that the epub link is not working. it's not a pdf it's an epub.
I'll let them know
We had a transition mid planning year where our events dh and ddh both stepped down after health issues, coincident in timing. This led to having to rebuild the events division and set back concert and other smaller event planning. I believe more are likely to be added.
Why should we cede the term to right-wing propaganda? DEI has been an important and powerful movement for decades. It has made positive changes in our society. Why should we cede the power of language to right-wing facists?
I respect your right to not work for free. Thank you.
Any feedback you are able to provide on how to help mitigate the known issues with the Sheraton venue would be helpful for us in planning.
I had concerns about the narrowness of the hallways at the Sheraton, but had been assured by a scooter user that the third floor (where evening activities will be occurring) was ok (once you got on the floor)
I am not trying to limit liability, I'm trying to meet needs. I know there are issues in the venues. The Summit Building's bathrooms are going to be an issue for scooter users, and they don't have automatic doors, yet they are all marked accessible because of deficiencies in the ADA
I've been trying to hire more folks to this team. most of the folks I know are burnt out from being the only folks volunteering to do the work. If you know anyone local who can help we need volunteers. I wrote the survey and can take your feedback to adjust it.
I have forwarded the email to you.
We sent an email with the survey to every member who marked interest in Accessibility Services in our registration database as well as posting it on our socials and in our newsletter. It is also linked on our website.
The accessibility team does have the concerns collected by the Program Team. The survey is helping us decide how much of each service we contract to make sure we have as close to the services we need to have. We do again have an Accessibility Area Head, but are always in need of more volunteers.
I'm frustrated that the work of a small team can harm the work of a large organization, even when 99%of the organization is unaware of that work until after it has happened.
Congrats to all the finalists! Looking forward to seeing many of you at Seattle Worldcon 2025! (Whether in person or online).
They are counting on them being overturned on appeal. It's so depressing right now.
not arguing with that.
I hear that and have been doing what I can to advocate for our members, be they in person or remote. That is, after all, my responsibility as Member Services Division Head.
What is really meant here is that there will not be hybrid panels. There will be virtual panels and in-person panels. It was not communicated well but wasn't intended to mean there won't be online panels.
with a possible exception for camera and spot platforms where we know the volunteers have no ramp needs. (of we have volunteers for those positions with needs we may install lifts)
I can guarantee that we will have no raised platforms without ramps. This has been in our plans from day 1.
There is a plan. We could use volunteers.
There are plans. The teams involved are trying to get clarity on issues before promising things they won't deliver, but hope to have things announced officially within the month.
