Authorities say the boat departed from eastern #Libya, a major departure point used by smuggling networks that send migrants across the Mediterranean toward Europe.
Unlike Lesbos, Chios, Samos, Kos and Leros, Crete does not yet have a dedicated migrant reception facility.
In the early hours of Friday, about 361 migrants were rescued or arrived south of #Crete, including on the small island of Gavdos. Local media report the boats departed from Libya carrying migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sudan and Egypt.
At Bulgaria’s request, #Greece will provide anti-ballistic protection against potential threats from #Iran. A Patriot missile system will be deployed in northern Greece while 2 #HAF F-16 fighter jets have landed at an airbase in northern Greece to provide additional coverage.

Greece has repatriated 162 citizens and family members from Oman, Bethlehem and the UAE (via Egypt and Istanbul) during operations carried out on March 3-4, the Foreign Ministry said.

Eleni Glykatzi-Ahrweiler has passed away at the age of 99. A renowned Byzantine scholar and author, Glykatzi-Ahrweiler was one of the most influential figures in contemporary Greek intellectual life. She was the first woman to serve as principal at the University of Sorbonne.

I also emailed the company making these cameras and they confirmed that these cameras don’t record on their own. It’s not their primary use. Maybe the CG should hire someone to do the recording but as it stands this is not possible, unlike a dashboard camera on a steady highway/road or street camera
