This is a terrible, broken, film, but it could be a really interesting release if the commentaries are able to dig into the problems with it and why it was essentially released unfinished.

This is, qualitatively, one of the worst films I've ever seen, but after this and the even worse Twisted by Love... I'm actually kind of fascinated by its director.

The first scene in this one is outside, and it sounds like everyone in underwater.
Twisted By Love left the director giving notes between two takes (both included) in the film. This time there's a scene of a business presentation where it's CLEAR that what is being shown on a laptop screen is THIS FILM'S SCREENPLAY. This is glorious.
Looking through Tubi and I just found another film by the director of this disasterpiece. Is it weird that this might be top of my watchlist now?
If you see this, post a vampire who is not Dracula.

Probably the most beautiful boxset I own. Fitting, for such a gorgeous film.
Rather than 'hatewatching', maybe we should call this something like 'lolwatching' (or something better, I hate THAT). Point being, if I HATE a movie, I'm not having any kind of fun watching it. If it's bad but fun, that's a different thing.
Also, why hate watch anything? Unless you have to review it, or feel like you need to be a completist (neither of which seem to apply here) why not just watch something you think you'll actually like instead?
As someone who has never been a big Star Wars guy, I didn't viscerally hate Rise the way many did (it's not a GOOD film, but I didn't care much). Sounds like you're in the same boat there, so I can't imagine you'd get much out of it either way...
I absolutely don't have the knowledge or experience, and it'd sell 4 copies, but I'd love to induct a Band Maid album into this series. Probably Unseen World, as while it's not my favourite, it has an incredible set of songs and the Roots/Progress concept is interesting.
Listening to some favourite Band Maid songs, and I feel you can really draw a direct line between these. Both have a lot of dynamic changes, but Forbidden Tale is more evolved and confident. Awkward is great, Forbidden Tale a masterpiece, IMO.

Forbidden Tale
Definitely interested in reading this. I'll also recommend the fantastic chapter on it in Richard E Grant's brilliant With Nails.

I ration my Rohmer viewing, because every time I watch one I seem to have new favourite film. This (long deleted) set includes all the Comedies and Proverbs, plus more films.
I'm genuinely not sure if it was intended as a joke that I got an ad for Microsoft AI on the Citation Needed episode abut Enshittification, but if it was, well played.
Going to have to watch/rewatch some stuff for the British film draft, but if anyone hasn't seen them my highest recommendation goes to Shell, Iona and Run, all by the Scottish director Scott Graham, who is ridiculously underseen and underrated.
Who is the most attractive villain in Movie or TV history?
I mean... tough to beat this one
On the other hand, people have to make a living, so I don't begrudge celebs doing the convention circuit (as we've seen from Go Fund Me, even people you'd imagine are LOADED often aren't). It's always your choice whether you think their individual price is worth paying.
All my signed DVDs and BRs have been signed at screenings, so I've never paid extra for them. I DID get one after an interview, only time I ever did it, but I'm glad I did, Celine Sciamma signed my copy of Water Lilies, and I got Adele Haenel to sign it after I saw Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
The only mainline film I don't at least thoroughly enjoy is The Predator. Predators is the one I've gone to bat for most often, really underrated movie (though, predictably, the original is still my favourite).
Enjoyed this so much. I was biased going in as I'm a massive Elle Fanning fan, but it's probably my No. 2 of the franchise
The story here is 'Sarah Polley directing new movie'. That gets me in.
I need to see Kinetta and rewatch some stuff (I can imagine Poor Things dropping a grade), but having seen Bugonia yesterday, I THINK this is where I stand on Lanthimos right now.

Hong Kong Legends was one of the best early dvd labels and this better than its source Under Siege knockoff is still only available in the UK on this disc (hurry up and change that, 88Films)
To be fair, I wasn't just talking to that account. It's the wider policy we should take to reporting on AI 'art' as a whole (unless it's someone we used to think was a real artist, name and shame those fuckers)
Joyride was one of the best discoveries I made in 2025, so thanks for having a hand in that.
I should also acknowledge my position here that even when I disagreed with the consensus, I only ever got relatively mild pushback. I'm sure that would have been different were I not a white straight dude.
This is actually something I don't miss now that I no longer go to the cinema. I seldom have hot takes anymore, so most of the time, by the time I have a reaction to a 'new' movie, the fuss has generally died down.
Starve this shit by refusing to publish the press releases. Could it go viral on its own? Sure, maybe, but not feeding the ragebait machine makes that tougher, and if it does you also refuse to report on THAT. Fuck AI 'art'.
