"I hate these people to a degree that feels simultaneously corrosive to the soul, and also the only righteous response to this kind of evil." Yes!

Where I'm at now, for myself: Be angry to the point it motivates you to keep doing meaningful things in your own sphere, but not more angry than that.

Having our tiny wedding at a small family-owned restaurant right by our house was brilliant.

They greeted us like family and snuck us in for dinner on a night when everywhere is packed and we had no reservation.

We never expected that, but it is lovely! And keeps us coming back even more.

Hey! I just ran across a fabulous pic from back when you got inspired to pursue this path, mere seconds ago! Seemed like nice timing with your commute view now. β™₯️

15 years ago today.

And I grew up with baseboard heat and had to be introduced to the pleasures. Lol

My boots stopped being waterproof during the blizzard, I don't know what I'd have done to dry them quickly without these to stick them under. πŸ˜‚

Central ac of modern HVAC would be great, but I will take my radiators!

People don't give old-fashioned radiators enough credit.

I never have to put on chilly clothing in winter since I warm it all up on the big radiators. A little bit of decadence injected into every ordinary day!

We are so lucky! And then Woody helped a cool neighbor we'd never met before shovel her sidewalk, which was easy to do since we only had to shovel the newest snow on our property. And so it pays forward and on!

A little kindness can go a very long way.

23.02.2026 20:13 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

We always do the shoveling for our building, since our late original landlord got cancer and then his lovely kids who live a distance away took over. They treat us like gold, so we give back.

But today the young men on the first floor surprised us by not just shoveling the sidewalk, also my car!

What the NBA's biggest stars would make under the WNBA's revenue share proposals Understanding the various WNBA revenue share proposals is complicated, so we used NBA salaries to put them into perspective.

This is an excellent way to frame the discussion over WNBA pay.

Here is what NBA players would get paid with the revenue share the WNBA players are asking for. Curry takes a massive pay cut.

Of course, the NBA would still claim they are losing money. Right?

Yeah, we'd need acres! Lol

It would most likely cost more to fix it than to buy a grand piano. I can pick up the same model for <$12k used. The moving blanket got wet and that warps wood. The fancy mirror next to it lost its veneer, even!

But it's not like we can bring it home anyway. So πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Cute drawings of hearts and an alien(?) in the snow on my car.

I love my city.

Concerns today have included: Will they let the bars serve alcohol at 8 am on a Sunday for the Olympic hockey? (Yes) And will enough bars open for it? (Of course!)

I got warning a dispensary was closing early and to get my order in for "snow day essentials."

And this on my car:

Anyone want to, like, build a trebuchet that can fling a grand piano or something?

So, I posted the other day about struggling with my mom's 34th deathiversary. And it helped and people really helped and it got better.

And then I found out today her grand piano was most likely destroyed by a flood at our storage unit.

Of all the weeks!

Trying to find the humor in it all.

Esp since we still really thought we'd see a launch that week! πŸ˜‚

You're welcome, and if you want to get nostalgic, here is the giant album I made from that week: photos.app.goo.gl/XMjuo8fggLxP...

There is a really cute pic of you eating your first Twinkie at press site, too!

Happiest times!

I think I even found a pic of when we met! I took it, but your companion here is way cuter anyway. πŸ˜ƒ 29 Oct 2010.

And 15 years ago right nowish we were heading to the launch.

Isn't that bananapants?? Feels like yesterday and 80 years ago at once.

Anybody else remember when department stores had pianists playing live?

Once in a while I remember why shopping used to be a thing we did for fun instead of another awful chore to add to all the chores.

How about this: I've known you as long as I knew my mom now. 133 was 15 years ago now!

That's actually pretty darn cool and weirdly comforting at this age.

Losing your family doesn't mean you don't have or build family. β™₯️ Needed this reminder of what I preach all the time!

It's true.

And most of the time I'm okay with that loss, as much as one can be. But anniversaries persist in rising in number! Ha!

Taking stock sure gets a lot weirder with age and piles of life experience to sort through, the clutter in the attic of our minds.

Thank you. β™₯οΈπŸ«‚πŸ™

I cannot thank you enough for this message.

It really is bloody hard! Been gone for over 2/3rds of my life now. Isn't that strange? So used to it, will never get used to it.

But it sure is a reminder to book some plane tickets and live a little before the next birthdays...

My mom's death anniversary has been getting harder over the years.

Maybe bc there is no call from Dad anymore.

Maybe bc I am almost as old as she was at death and I feel it.

Or maybe I'm just not the strong person I used to be.

Or bc I finally learned how brutal her death was and it haunts.

In all the talk of Vonn, I fear this will be missed:

Federica Brignone broke the record for oldest alpine skiing OGM, either gender. Previously, Aksel Lund Svindal held it at 35 years, 51 days.

Fede turned 35 last July.

And she did it w/ a missing ACL.

And then did it again.

Long weekends are so strange. I have no ability to remember today is Wed. due to Woody taking a birthday long weekend.

Which makes sense, fine, normal stuff.

But why is that screwing up my ability to tell time today, too? πŸ˜‚

11.02.2026 18:24 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Today I heard the only answer that makes sense, "I don't know."

I feel you, bro. I feel you.

Kids with dead parents aren't psychics any more than anyone else.

Ooh, that would be a neat perk to make up for the loss, though...

I really wish reporters would stop asking athletes with dead parents what their parents would think of their medals.

"Congratulations! Let's immediately discuss the worst things about life so you can't possibly enjoy one moment of your victory without it being focused on death."

Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistβ€”because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

One of the reasons I love alpine ski racing is it is such a cooperative sport. Like larger teams "adopting" skiers from countries that don't have their own programs instead of hoarding the sports' institutional knowledge.

Training up their competitors, pretty cool!

Cutthroat with camaraderie.

I would give just about anything to be going swing dancing with you - conserve that energy and make the most of it! Plenty of cardio in swing anyway, it's not rumba. πŸ˜‰ 😁
