Texas conservatives who've championed book bans & anti-LGBT policies suffered big losses tonight in school board races.

And They seem to have lost their working majorities to pass their policies in big school boards.

I tracked these results in FOUR boards tonight. So a 🧵 on each ICYMI.

This is why ICE agents should be prosecuted. Secret police who refuse to identify themselves are no police at all. They give those subject to their orders no way to distinguish them from criminals except taking the word of a random masked thug. The courts need to be invoked to clarify this.

Gov. Greg Abbott signs 'Texas DOGE' bill into law The bill creates an efficiency office to streamline Texas regulations, reduce unnecessary rules and improve public access to regulatory information.

An actual quote from the article:

“Republicans have controlled all aspects of Texas politics for more than two decades, but Abbott said the new office is not a sign Republicans have mismanaged the state for the past 20 years.”

Rep. @jamestalarico.bsky.social lays out his amendment to allow Texans to have a say in the voucher debate, and put the issue on the ballot for Texas voters to decide.

If Greg Abbott is so confident that Texans want his voucher scam, why is he too cowardly to let them vote on it? #txlege (1/2)

More bg on the impetus for Phil King's Bill Waybourn Protection Act (SB 781) at the #txlege. If you don't intend to reduce the number of tragic and unnecessary jail deaths, apparently the next best thing is to make information about them secret.

In other #txlege news, they are actively defunding our public schools and funneling that money to private (Christian) education. We are living in a theocracy in Texas.
