Species Slowdown: Is Nature’s Ability to Self-Repair Stalling? When scientists recently analyzed hundreds of studies of ecosystems, they were surprised to see a marked slowing in the rate of species turnover. If new species don’t replace old ones, they say, ecosy...

Contrary to predictions, "Nature is slowing down, and its ability to regenerate is failing in the face of climate change." A new analysis finds the speed of species turnover in ecosystems worldwide has slowed by a third since the mid-1970s. 🌎🌿πŸ§ͺ

This is so great. Over the last 12 years beavers have gone from something that governments wanted rid of and few of the NGOs cared about, to being recognised as a native species right across GB. Well done to all those who campaigned to get us here.

Companies should heed the warnings of the new Business and Biodiversity Assessment This post is by Katie Leach, head of nature at Lloyd’s Banking Group and IPBES business and biodiversity assessment co-ordinating lead author. A couple weeks ago over 150 governments gathered in Ma…

More than half of global GDP depends on nature, yet biodiversity loss is accelerating. Governments have now agreed the first global assessment focused on business.

In this blog, Katie Leach outlines what it means for companies and why nature is business critical.

This spring sees the release of a documentary about the fight to defend and extend access to nature in England and Wales. OUR LAND, directed by Orban Wallace and shot by Gallivant Film, follows the Right to Roam campaign as we trespass estates and challenge removal of rights on Dartmoor and beyond.

It shows why we need to campaign for nature now more than ever.

We ask teachers to hold the emotional weight of the future β€”
often without the language, support, or permission to be honest.
Today, Climate Courage Schools is launching The Hardest Lesson, a short film about that quiet pressure inside the classroom. Watch here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H-5...

I used to be a secondary school teacher. 3 of our feeder primaries were flooded. It was months before the children could return. Many of our students’ homes were flooded too. Adults often put it on students as if it’s their responsibility to respond to climate change but it’s not, it’s ours.

This frames climate as a single-variable problem. It isn’t.

COβ‚‚ matters enormously, but so do land use, water, biodiversity, and scale. An energy source can be low-carbon and still ecologically destructive at deployment scale. Pointing that out isn’t β€œanti-renewable.” It’s systems thinking.
