On March 4, a U.S. sub torpedoed the IRIS Dena. Of 180 aboard, 87 died and 61 are missing; Sri Lanka rescued 32.

Sinking a ship that was someone's guest, that was following peacetime protocols, that couldn't fight back. Then leaving sailors to drown thousands of miles from home. That’s a war crime.

I am frankly more concerned about the apathy of the American public and even more importantly the lack of leadership in the Democratic Party.

This is not a dress rehearsal. Every single American must speak out against this Facist administration.

This is a heinous atrocity that we have committed and I hope people who made this decision are punished.

Stock market tanking again today and oil *way* up. What's crazy is Trump could've just rode out the current regression to the mean on inflation, combined with an apparent productivity boom. Instead, did the opposite of econ 101: kicked out workers, reduced immigration, started wars of choice.

Can’t someone be there to spray these LLM guys with a water bottle like a naughty cat when they say dumb things like this?

"The strike would rank among the worst cases of civilian casualties in decades of U.S. conflicts in the Middle East."

I, for one, am tired of being told by Christian theocratic fascists that I, a Jew and an immigrant, am not a real citizen of this country.

Incredibly illuminating to compare income and hours worked across countries and states for ***the bottom 95% of earners only***. The typical Belgian earns as much as the typical Californian but works about 24% less

Markwayne is actually a noble title, and is the Oklahoma equivalent to "Marquis," and may be passed on at the same time your father gives you his car dealership

Could be some downsides to refusing to discharge your constitutional duties as a member of Congress.

It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.

He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.

This is a multi-decade problem. The time series on congressional work days since 1980 is grim.

We need to pass a House rule or law that requires them to work a certain number of days to get paid. Since Mike Johnson took over these people hardly ever work. When they finally come back after weeks off they work 2 days and he sends them home for 2 more weeks. It’s ridiculous.

Close to 650 federal agents remain in Minnesota weeks after border czar announced end of operation There are still more than quadruple the 150 agents Tom Homan said there would be in the state by the end of last week.

They’re still lying to us.

War is NOT a game. The Trump administration treats it as if it is, which erases the humanity of ALL who are killed, including US service members.

There’s something worth studying here about the way that social media networks impact coalition formation. Time to find some sources…

Ansari: "The DOJ was caught red handed withholding explosive and credible FBI witness interviews of a woman who accused Donald Trump of sexually assaulting her when she was a minor. Shouldn't we hold hearings on that? Shouldn't Pam Bondi be here, forced to testify about why she's violating the law?"

Lawless authoritarianism:

-"Officials Violated More Than 50 Court Orders in NJ"
-"ICE violated at least 96 court orders in January"
-"The judge then provided an additional count of 113 more court orders violated in 77 more cases"

There is an ahistorical belief, epitomized by just about everything Hegseth says, that the US has been somehow ineffective in warfare since WWII because it was somehow constrained in delivering destruction. To put it bluntly, this is dumb.

John Fetterman says "I think they just blew up 80 of Iran's mullahs too. Which, I mean, that was pretty great actually!"

God this fucking flippancy about killing people just makes me sick. This supposed to be the US's deliberative body and they're out here trying to be funny about mass death.

I'm sorry, if you're going to make a big show about how you've got a Department of WAR helmed by a Secretary of WAR and staffed by WARfighters, it's totally inane to then claim that your massive bombing of a foreign country constitutes something other than a war.

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:

- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.
