Proportionally, the estimated 100-200k Pride marchers in Budapest today would correspond to something approaching 1m in London or New York. And this in a country that has now spent 15 years under illiberal, authoritarian rule.
What a symbol of hope.
Thermometer reading of concrete exposed to direct sunlight on a hot day, reading over 40°C
Thermometer reading of concrete in shade on a hot day, reading at 28°C

It’s *well* past time we take climate change deadly seriously.
Every… EVERY… piece of physical and social infrastructure is reliant on a stable climate.
In the past year we've had a series of papers with results that've shocked #climate scientists - the globe is heating #FasterThanExpected & we don't fully know why
The public discourse is not keeping up.
Here's a series of 5 new studies that climate hawks & journos need to have on their radar 🧵
So, it turns out we're treating fascism just like we've been treating climate change:

A lot of folks asked why I through this January's record global temperatures were so unexpected.
I think this graph shows it pretty clearly: pretty much every other January with La Nina conditions has been a cooler than the surrounding years.

#Milton: This is a terrific tip from the Insurance Institute for Home and Business Safety (IBHS). Everyone knows to close your exterior windows and doors. But also closing your interior doors can be just as important in limiting pressure on your roof.

What are we even doing here?

since 70%+ of communication is nonverbal, I’d say no big deal! I use thumbs up too sometime, and it’s more endearing as i have a niece who would use a lot, including sideways one.
