After about 5 years (!) of keeping secrets, I am so excited that Disney Pixar's Hoppers is finally coming out on March 6th!
Back in 2021, Pixar emailed me asking if I could give a talk about my research to their employees. Then another talk. And another.

I'm curious how folks make sure that their students are learning anything about writing by using track changes? I'm finding some students are likely just using "accept all" and not bothering to read the edits or understand. Besides going back to corrections on paper what's the other option?
But that's for students that are likely going to need to know how to write later on. If not, I'll do a heavier copy edit and I don't much care if they are accepting track changes are not, since we're focusing on the product and not the training.
When I'm writing with students the first and second pass are mostly comments. I'll try to show what needs to change and why. If I need to edit something to illustrate a point, I'll do that and then say 'fix this elsewhere'.
I prefer to think of them as small batch models. Low volume lets me charge a premium....
Can we stop comparing ML/AI to "traditional" analysis, as if there is this artisanal cottage industry of kindly rural craftsmen doing logistic regressions by hand, taking them to sell at the farmer's market?
