Firefly was an okay show airing during a time when the bar was low.

Hollywood is really scraping the bottom of the barrel if they're bringing it back. They had 24 years to bring back a failed show. (Which also had a second chance movie.) Why now? It's creative bankruptcy.

The day after we put the final touches on issues #88-91 of β€œSwamp Thing”, news broke about the passing of Tatjana Wood, the original colorist on the series. Tomorrow, March 2nd, would have been Tatjana’s 100th birthday. Let’s raise a glass to one of comics’ originals.

The past few Mondays I have been showing my wife The X-Files.

We just watched "The Jersey Devil" (SE1, EP5)

Gorillaz dropped a new album this weekend. Here's your reminder that the visual side of the project, Jamie Hewlett, has a comics background.

He co-created Tank Girl and has done some really cool comics for @2000ad.bsky.social.

Continuing into Saturday.

Gorillaz - The Mountain

I somehow missed the biggest release of the week.

After one listen: it's not bad. Nothing really stands out in the same way as when the group was in their prime. The song I enjoyed the most was the one with Sparks.

Bleach was this for me. Well, until the Aizen stuff finished up. I tried the filler arc that was after and kind of dropped off.

The one I had on DVD that I really digged was Gurren Lagann.

This hurts my brain so much as someone who works in marketing for their dayjob.

It doesn't matter what your discipline or project is, make it super easy for people to find and engage with it. Make it clear and have as few steps as possible.

Rubber band-like punk (think The Damned meets Parquet Courts) that's slightly off kilter.

Now for something completely different. A cool soul-jazz album. Heaps of groove making for some easy listening while I work.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I hoped. The heavy shoegaze meet IDM drum beats was interesting but a lot of the softer moments didn't do much for me. Maybe it will grow with subsequent listens.

Writers, if you could drop your novel into a blender that also sets your dick on fire, and every artist you admire laughs and calls you "burnt dick blender guy," would you do it?

When budget allows it, I'm going to have to open up pitch submissions for a piece about the intersection of comics and wrestling.

I'm unhappy, so I'm going to look at this beautiful cover for POPEYE #66 (1962) until I feel better.

Three panel comic. Panel one: a bush baby in sunglasses and a leather jacket sits outside a house on a motorcycle with huge handlebars. A starry-eyed ingenue in daisy dukes runs from the house. She says β€œwait, biker bush baby! Take me with you!” Panel 2: biker bush baby solemnly turns back and replies, β€œheh. Kid… you want nothin’ to do with this.” Panel 3: he rides into the distance while she watches him vanish on the horizon.

An added bonus is that I don't have anyone asking for edit access for the sheet (when there are clear instructions on how to save a copy) this year.

I decided to put the tracker behind an email sign-up this year because I given away A LOT of stuff and asked for nothing in return in the past 13 years. I needed to do something that will help the site grow.
