@iamragesparkle I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, "no. get out." And the dude next to me says, "hey i'm not doing anything, i'm a paying customer." and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, "out. now." and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, "you didn't see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them." And i was like, ohok and he continues. "you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too. And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down. And i was like, 'oh damn.' and he said "yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people." And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven't forgotten that at all.
It's the "Nazi Bar" problem.
If a nazi, or a sexist, or other bigot is welcome at your table, you have a nazi table. Even if you specifically are not one, you are allowing them to be welcome. So what good are you?

But from the woman's perspective , the laughter, the silence , the looking away, it all creates the same environment. So when women say "most men are the same," this is what they mean: not that every man harassed women, but that most men helpmprotect the system that does.

I have a boss who loves using AI to "research" for me if I bring up an issue in a meeting - which means that I still get to research the information I need and *then* I get to figure how what he sent me is wrong.
And it's always wrong.

Claude can turn anyone into a mediocre coder.
If you start out as a good coder, using Claude will turn you into a mediocre coder too, and rather than coming up with new code you'll spend most of your days trying to debug Claude's slop.
There are actually scientific studies about the use of AI advice in regular coding that show that it makes your code worse at what it does and you slower at coding. It *might* be useful if you only need it to code one very simple thing, but even then it's a roll of the dice.
Old time followers know that I have in fact floated the idea of having an AI assistant to help me learn programming and do basic menial tasks. I can quite happily report that not only was I wrong, but that everything out today fails to accomplish any of those goals. It will never help you learn.
Worse than that, they violated the guest-right of an --up until then-- neutral party.
