A lot of sad yelling would have happened.

not shown: bob forcefully washing jim's face to finally get him out of his guest room.
I think the line he says to Hitler after he shoots him is one of the most badass lines in history of comic books and this is probably the best scene in any comic book because fuck Hitler.
I'm just spoiling the best part. The Unknown Soldier kills Hitler in what just might be the greatest page in comic book history.
I believe this was some of his last work for the company too. I love the wild and weird stories he came up with. ANYTHING could happen in a Bob Haney story. Trust me on that. This thing I'm going to mention is only a blip in the entire end story of the Unknown Soldier.
In 1982, DC cancelled the series because War comics were selling not as good as they once did. I think GI Combat and Sgt Rock were the only series that kept on going (and only for like five or so years). Bob Haney got to say good bye to the Unknown Soldier.
He would pretty much be covered in bandages and no one knew who he was but he would take covert ops for the government, master of disguise type stuff. The series he debuted in was Our Army at War, which he pretty much took over.
Hello friends! this is something I feel everyone who enjoys a comic book should know. Some pretext before the wild scene. In 1966, Joe Kubert, Irv Novick and Robert Kanigher created a war hero character for DC Comics. He was the Unknown Soldier
plus the Youtuber who made the worst comic is actually Eric July.
I might just like this character because she shares the first name with my niece and that kid is a hoot. A hoot and a half actually!
convention or comic book store. I'm at least interested in seeing how Alice Herman works in her second appearance. I think there's something to this character that writers today could use. A woman character who's very intelligent but isn't sure if she wants to do good or not. I dunno.
do away with the Pre-Crisis continunity. This issue is uh all over the dang place and really deserved a second part and I get the feeling it was supposed to be two parts (I mean we don't even get to see the Robot save his planet) but I still did enjoy it. Not a classic but worth $2 at a random
The Robot disappears and then we get an Epilogue where Superman gives a gift for Dr. Alice Herman and tells her what path do you want to follow. The path of Batman who uses his smarts to help people or the Luthor path? Apparently Dr. Alice Herman actually gets to show up one more time before they
The Robot has to pretend to be just a Robot Superman made to get him out of the whole CLARK KENTS FACE EXPLODED AND SHOWED OFF WIRES AND ROBOTIC SHIT. He probably couldn't get Batman to work with him because he was being a Grumpy Gus. So they fool Morgan Edge and the Robot is off to save his planet!
She uses the McGuffin powder/gas/whatever to turn people Violent! Superman and the Robot have to keep the people from hurting each other! Some of the powder gets into the Robots system and he finds out its exactly what his doohickey needs! Doohickey is a good word.
She also used the Neoplasm to make the Nobel Peace Prize judges give her a Nobel Peace Prize. This woman is a wild one. The Robot gets over his Robo-Amnesia and then remembers why he's here! He needs to find the McGuffin for this story! It's in Sweden where Dr. Alice Herman is!
which I'm assuming is a new invention because it doesn't do what the stuff did in earlier in the issue. This stuff makes dogs named Elsa recite the Gettysburg Address. I think that was Abe Lincoln but I come from Canada and don't know American history.
Superman then gets the Robot to pretend to be Clark Kent and we get the cover image within the comic when the Robot's face fucking explodes while talking to a blowhard politician who will do nothing or probably make things worse. While this is happening Dr. Alice Herman has been using Neoplasm
The Robots planets sun is about to go HAYWIRE and well thanks to his new device he's the only one able to move around and stuff. He then comes to Earth-1 to find the material needed to help. He finds Superman and then finds out he has amnesia, which I did not know Robots could get.
The lady scientist has created a globbly life form that gets bigger and bigger until Superman has to come in and bring it to the Arctic (near the Fortress of Solitude. If James Gunns upcoming movie does not call it the Fortress of Solitude I will poop on his driveway)
This story is brought to us by Elliott S! Maggin. A man who wrote a LOT of Superman stories. It starts with a woman getting excited over her scientific creation and a robot man (who looks like robotman) whos on an unnamed other world. I will refer to this place as Earth-Robot because I like that.
I talked about a Superman issue, so let's talk about an issue of Action Comics. Right in the middle of Crisis. I believe they were burning off fill in issues because some of the comics have 3 stories in one. I picked this issue because of the cover. So buckle up because things are gonna get wacky.
@100hairs.bsky.social you ever read this one?
I would say this comic is very much worth reading. I don't know where it has been collected (or if it even has been collected) but i'm sure you can find it for cheap in a back issue bin.
This Lex then joins up with Superman and they become partners and fight crime for decades. Superman (at 130 years old) works with a bunch of youngsters that he calls youngins and such. It's a very fun story and it's very neat how it tied back into the other one.
It ties back into the first story where Lex Luthor ends up saving a young boy (he even says that he can't let someone die because of him NOT on Einstein's birthday) The boy he saves turns out to be a very respected scientist and even cures Lex Luthor of his criminal psychosis
It's a really good story and I would recommend it highly. The second story is called the Ghost of Superman's Future and it takes place in the Future and it has Superman (with a big old Rip Van Winkle beard) at 130 years old going back in time to make sure that Lex Luthor DOESN'T get captured today.
but I just believe losing his small amount of humanity (like his hero worship of Einstein and protecting his sister Lena Thurol (yes it's just Luthor backwords and I love it) is something that I do believe people working on comics today should pick up on.
