The EU’s so-called lack of decisiveness is really the price of national vetoes. You can’t demand stronger action and less integration at the same time. That tension is exactly what will push federalisation forward, not by ideology, but by necessity.
In many ways, I think the EU is entering a new era. The world has changed so much since brexit. EU once seen primarily as a monetary union, it is now actively protecting individual freedom, safeguarding against discrimination, countering illiberal trends, and regulating big tech.
I have to disagree. The EU protects freedom and security: free movement, enforceable rights, rule of law, anti-discrimination, GDPR, sanctions, joint defence, and standing against illiberal movements. A shared liberal space, not just economics.
