Businesses are not charities. They work on profit margins. Decades of $ is essential for research to progress from an initial discovery to treatment. Most of the dirty work goes on in academic labs.

It’s wild to me how you equate random crazy people with no power with right wing administrations that push antivax, anti-climate change, anti-evolution propaganda. The people who claim polio wasn’t cured with vaccines are on the RIGHT.
Dude, the Left isn’t pushing antivax propaganda on the federal level—the right wing is. Fluoride mistrust too is largely a right wing phenomenon now. Along with everything else I mentioned.
I know that no one cares anyone and it’s been lost to the news cycle, but Kilmar Abrego Garcia, Mahmoud Khalil, and Rumeysa Ozturk were actual examples of fraudulent weaponization of the DOJ…by Trump.
I really hate seeing articles with the phrase "repairing trust in science" in them. The people who have consistently lied about science--whether the link between smoking and cancer, climate change, COVID-19, vaccines etc.--are corporations and right-wing pundits, not scientists.

I think it should be hammered until the end of time that every podcaster and influencer who said the COVID vaccine would kill millions or that hydroxychloroquine/ivermectin protect against COVID was DEAD WRONG. They should never be able to move on from that.
