So we're due for another one of these reconstructions. It won't materialize out of nowhere, but if we play our cards right, this awful period could be followed by seismic change for good.

BUT, after these truly terrible periods (enslavement, Jim Crow) come moments of RECONSTRUCTION. Think the flowering of Black communities after the Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement.

It is precedented, and it is terrible.

We are just in another one of those truly bad periods where the White Supremacists (allied with big business) are winning.

But it didn't. Since the close of the Civil War the United States has been a battleground for the ongoing struggle between White Supremacists and proponents of a multiracial democracy.

So, you might think that this moment of authoritarianism came out of nowhere.

I am trying to learn about Bluesky so that I can tell you about a thing and that thing is the THIRD RECONSTRUCTION.

HELLO is this thing on? Does the internet work anymore?
