I was happy to take part in the Regulating Cybersecurity 2025 conference organized in the beautiful faculty of law of the University of Granada. Among interesting contributions, I discussed how the misapplication of primary rules of PIL to cyberspace hampers the function of state responsibility.
Ξ barely know how to process this information. How can people still defend it is (or should be) inconceivable...
I am very excited to participate tomorrow in the 2025 ESIL Research Forum in Catania titled "International law in the age of permacrisis". I will be focusing on cyberspace and specifically on the permacrisis that international responsibility faces in the cyber domain
With this blogpost I attempt to engage on yet another violation of international law from the US, this time coming from the Great Musk himself. How posts on X can (legally) become intervention to the internal affairs of other states and (realistically) a very real threat to democracy

Today marks 2 years since the devastating #Tempi train crash in #Greece. 57 lives lost, and the fight for justice intensifies. Mass protests across the country show the public's deep frustration with the lack of transparency and accountability. #ΞΡν_ΞΟΟ_ΞΞΎΟ

This looks a lot like economic coercion to me, prohibited by the principle of non-intervention (as codified in the UN Friendly Relations Declarations) and by Art. 3 of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum www.reuters.com/business/us-...
I really believe we shouldn't react to every thing a clearly deranged man says, but since he wants to add international criminal to the mix.
Annexation-> the most basic prohibition of PIL
Forced transfers-> was a war crime when Israel proposed it, remains a war crime
You know how some saints in different christian dogmas protect different things? We should definitely canonize a saint for refrences so researchers can pray somewhere when zotero/mendeley malfunction
Thank you very much π

Since I cannot find one, here is a starter pack for the slightly niche topic of every aspect of PIL and the interwebs. Please feel free to send me so I can add you :D
Finally the EU throws its hat in the ring with the (first of its kind for EU standards) common declaration about how PIL applies to cyberspace. Quite valuable position from an important player. We eagerly expect the actual text to see teh details but a very positive development overall!

I apologise for barging in but this is a topic quite close to my heart. Any mandarins Benelux are a disappointment unless they are Turkish/Greek imported. Mandarins are supposed to be tangy not sweet/bland π
Spending 9 hours reading 15 papers to write 1 footnote containing 40 words and 3 references
1) trying to apply the no-harm principle in cases of cyber harm in order to foster at least (some) harm redress in case of malicious cyber operations
2) how international law should become more flexible and start to apply its rules in a less rigid way shedding often unreasonable thresholds
Hello Mark, thanks for doing this I'd love to be included as well
Happy to participate in the "New Technologies in International Law" conference in Charles University yesterday discussing the application of the no-harm principle in cyberspace.
