If it’s not in contact you’ve been v unlucky, if it is I’d say it’s just been a matter of time from when the cup was first pressed home…
When the front brake is applied the steerer tube will push the bearings up against the rear of the lower cup, if that’s being transmitted direct to the lug causing it to flex a little the downtube will be stressed much more than normal.
Can’t quite see if the bearing cup is in contact with the lug. If it is, that would probably explain that failure. The downtube will experience some stress at that point normally but most of the force when braking will be soaked up by the headtube.
The lower part of the lug for the downtube looks very close to the crown bearing housing in one of those pics.

Had to refer to the manual for this! I use walking and cycling modes, but there are also skating, skiing and cross country skiing modes.

It’s a Brompton so v low crossbar but I’m still adept enough to swing the leg over the back of the saddle. The other strut there is the walking stick. Thin thigh tube means it doesn’t get in the way when riding :o)

Got the cycling mode working on the new leg so brought the swinging crank out of retirement…
The toilets to be closed cost between £2,600 (Charlbury) and £45,530 (Woodstock) to run each year. Several of the toilets are sited near car parks, where WODC offers free parking at an annual subsidy of around £0.5m.

We’re thrilled our work is influencing policy & standards elsewhere, and look out for launch of the 5th edition of the Guide this September.
Now there’s something ‘tech’ hasn’t managed to improve upon - when you view a gorgeous vista but your camera flattens it out to nowt.
Finally, a progressive PSPO. Bedford has ditched its blanket ban on cycling in pedestrianised areas & now only prohibits dangerous/aggressive riding.
This simple change means Disabled cyclists are no longer excluded from the town centre. Let's hope other councils take note.
