Talking about Suicide:10 Tools (TAS:10) is a CPD certified training course where participants learn ten tools and the confidence and competence to have a safe, sensitive and non-judgemental conversation with someone they are worried about who may be thinking of suicide.
Talking about Suicide:10 Tools (TAS:10) was created by Ann Feloy, in memory of her son, and Rose Rowkins of Start the Conversation.
We trialled the suicide prevention βTalking about Suicide:10 Toolsβ T4T with in-house training staff at Sanctuary Housing Association where they will roll out the training to up to 11,000 of their staff right across the UK.
This funding has enabled us to develop a Training for Trainers βT4Tβ model so that the sessions can be delivered going forward by in-house staff, face to face. The work has involved developing training manuals and videos to help staff learn how to deliver Dr SAMS themselves.β
Ann Feloy, Founder & CEO, said: "I wanted to ensure sustainability and a way to scale the Dr SAMS programme to reach as many medical schools and universities as possible..
The three year initiative includes delivery of the two part programme by Olly's Future trainers, as well as in-house UCL staff learning how to teach the sessions to their students themselves.

A photo of smiling students is overlaid with the logo of UCL (University College London) where Ollyβs Futureβs training of staff - with the help of funding from The Fishmongersβ Livery Company- will enable them to provide in-house training for their students in the future. At the bottom of the image there are logos and information explaining the two parts of the training course, which are: Talking about Suicide:10 Tools (TAS:10) a 90-minute CPD certified training course where participants learn ten tools and the confidence and competence to have a safe, sensitive and non-judgemental conversation with someone they are worried about who may be thinking of suicide. CareSpace:10 Techniques for Wellbeing. A 90-minute guided, psychologically safe space, grounded in the Compassion Circles model, widely used throughout the NHS, where participants learn self-care, self-resilience and self-reflective techniques to look after their own mental health needs. Olly's mum wrote the poem 'Daffodils'.
Put daffodils in the window
The brightest of the bright
To remind us of your presence
To remind us of your light.
Although the years are passing
Since last we saw your face
Your memory sustains us
With love and light and grace.
We invite you to make this simple, heartfelt gesture in memory of a loved one or a dear friend.
Ollyβs Future was founded in memory of Olly Hare from Worthing who died on February 14th, 2017 and his love and light continue to inspire us in our work at Ollyβs Future - www.ollysfuture.org.uk .

..However, it is never too late for practising clinicians to refresh their skills in suicide prevention. Why not get in touch?β
Ann Feloy, our founder & CEO, said βWe train existing and future doctors alike. Our belief is that if we can embed the learning while our future doctors and other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, are still studying, they will be better equipped and confident to help their future patients..
Ollyβs Future delivers suicide prevention training to practising clinicians as well as to medical students and future healthcare professionals, such as nurses and paramedics.
