a single paragraph guide to taking pleasure in both the games you play and the material you put into the world. via @meredithgran.com

pen and watercolor illustration of dale cooper from twin peaks. he is looking to the right, driving while recording a voice memo into a recorder in his left hand. speech bubbles say "diane, 11:30 am, february 24th. entering the town of twin peaks" and "i've never seen so many trees in my life"

I'm an unemployed video game designer with 14 years of experience and multiple shipped titles. Every day I get up to apply for jobs and every day the news says this
I urge you to stop what you're doing and watch Alysa Liu's free skate from yesterday. I have never seen anything like this. I understand why sports writers are born now. I have never seen anyone as free from the burdens of this world as this pierced Oakland girl spinning to Donna Summers.
Wheel of fortune board, WHAT DO VOTERS WANT AMERICAN CENTURY OF HUMILIATION
in summary
video games were a short lived entertainment medium popular from ~1970 - ~2025
"Iβve been working as a writer for the past decade and watching my industry shrivel up and die as a result, so youβll excuse me if I, and the rest of the everyday people who stand to get screwed by AI, arenβt particularly excited by what AI can offer society." ~ @xoxogossipgita.bsky.social
The Pitt is a crazy TV show because now, in every season, i'll be watching the first 5-7 episodes thinking "i wonder when Doctor Jack Abbot will show up........" and then they can just bring back Doctor Jack Abbot for the last half of the season. that's OP
"I find myself thinking 'this isnβt sustainable' of the continual decimation of the media, which has been happening aggressively for at least ten years, but what do I mean by that? For whom isnβt it sustainable? In what way?" charlotteshane.com/blog/2026/2/...
it's genuinely stunning to me you'd keep a game in the hopper for a decade and then do huge layoffs after a single month. a month is nothing in live service terms. less than nothing.
If you're gonna read any quote from an article on the game, let it be this one, because I think it sums up a lot of the feelings of fans pretty succintly
GOTY 2025 list is up! not nearly as much horsin' around this time as compared to last year's, but i still had fun writing about my favorite games of 2025: eric-deters.com/writing/goty...
Now you too can play a slowed down version of a game from 20 years ago with no actual level design or enemies and all it costs is a complete collapse of the world economy, biosphere, education system, and multiple entire creative industries.
MinnMax and Giant Bomb are doing great stuff tonight. tune in and throw in a few bucks if you can! Fuck ICE! Fuck CBP! Fuck Fascists!
i think we should hear him out
Black and white photo of legendary filmmaker David Lynch
βNo one really dies, they just drop their physical body, and weβll all meet again, like the song says. Itβs sad, but itβs not devastating if you think like that. Itβs a continuum, and weβre all going to be fine at the end of the story.β

i was starting to wonder why no one on my timeline was posting remembrances of David Lynch yesterday⦠and it turns out i got the date wrong! dunno how that happened but i made this to honor his legacy! pretend i released it today
trying out new "time of day" lighting & environments.
brutal dichotomy established here: either you have seen Eraserhead, or you are hot and cool
well this checks out
hopefully obvious given its name but BITSYRASERHEAD was made with the tool bitsy by @adamledoux.net. It's fully playable in browser and on mobile!
Screenshot of a DAVID LYNCH'S BITSYRASERHEAD. Three piles of rocks stand in front of a brick wall with a single window. Henry is on the right side of the screen. There's a textbox that reads: "[HENRY's right foot plunges deep into a puddle of MUD]"
A screenshot of DAVID LYNCH'S BITSYRASERHEAD. Henry stands at the left side of the screen. There is a wall of dark windows and pipes
A screenshot of DAVID LYNCH'S BITSYRASERHEAD. Henry stands in the elevator of his apartment lobby. There is a black and white chevron pattern on the floor. There is a textbox that reads: "[The ELEVATOR DOORS slowly SHUT]"
A screenshot of DAVID LYNCH'S BITSYRASERHEAD. Henry stands in the doorway to his apartment; inside there's a bed, a dresser, a radiator, a window, a record player, a table, a lamp. In the door opposite Henry stands the Neighbor Lady. A textbox reads: "NEIGHBOR LADY: Are you Henry?"
If you enjoy the game, I would very much appreciate it if you shared the link/post! It would mean a lot to me if this game reached the broader David Lynch community; I made it for them!
The game adapts the first 30 minutes of David Lynch's first feature film nearly scene-for-scene. You don't need to have seen ERASERHEAD to play; in fact, I hope playing it makes you interested in watching the film itself! It's a staggering work of art.
One year ago to the day, we lost David Lynch, a filmmaker and artist very dear to my heart, and to the hearts of so many around the world.
To celebrate his life and work, I present: DAVID LYNCH'S BITSYRASERHEAD, a tribute to a dream of dark and troubling things
