Something bad happens to you, it means you did something bad. For survivors of trauma, this can be too hard to recognize bad things can happen and you didn't do anything wrong. As such, some may feel their children suffering is a "must" because they suffered and it must be ok, the opposite 2/4

I echo these feelings, esp lately. America is based on individualism, blunt and being "direct" is jarring for me to react to, yet, this is seen as a trait necessary to "succeed" in America's capitalist framework.

I think the "just world beliefs" concept can explain this, it assumes if 1/4
