That said, itβs a tough class to get good WR value, and a tough free agent market, too. This may have been the best that was out there. DJ Moore still possesses real skill-based upside imo.
Excited for DJ Moore in BUF but also feel this is a clearly bad value trade, and imo itβs Exhibit A supporting the claim the Bills botched their offseason reorg.
The R2 pick is more valuable but Beane wonβt be around for that without addressing WR. Self preservation.
Wouldnβt shock me if heβd influenced one or two of these over the years bc his logic for how it makes sense for both sides always tracks
Everyoneβs like βholy shit,β Barnwellβs like, βyeah, wrote about this last month,β and heβs so humble but just want to emphasize he does this *way* more than is reasonable given how damn tough it actually is to be that right
Common Barnwell W
Even if all the rest of this happened, Iβd guess Derek Carr for the Vikings over Flacco + ARich
There might be a lot of insight here, but the idea Minnesota is going to end up with that is really hard for me to believe, with the smoke from player side that itβs desirable and team side they want to do something more significant
lol no, but i do mostly agree (the characterization of my point isn't exactly right, but whatever, that's language/communication for you, and it's probably more my fault for how i presented it)
I love that and share that perspective
Ditto
Right, but again, something Iβm trying (and maybe failing) to articulate is the original point didnβt intend to deny many are struggling. Itβs about how society canβt agree on whatβs right and wrong enough to hold powerful to account.
Is the implication a commentary canβt be made on the ease of life at a median without considering anecdotal perspectives on the low end? Of course there are people in a society who have it bad (and I firmly believe we should try to improve things for them). That isnβt the only marker, either.
Yeah, I hear that. I wrote more posts just now and acknowledged.
But fwiw, I got a lot of feedback, and the majority didnβt read it this way. Doesnβt change your point. But thatβs social media β tough to reach people where they are (easier to be more delicate in individual communication).
Anyway, if a lot of people read it the same way, I didnβt communicate well enough. But your message clams Iβm missing something I both donβt think Iβm missing and also acknowledge I canβt really understand. I still donβt see the relevance because Iβm mostly talking about the other half of society.
And there are like 40 people commenting on my specific life experience when Iβm not even mildly relevant to this point (other than my experience is going to bias my perspective, and Iβm making the observation, but again, Iβm not talking about me).
My commentary is not about 100% of people but about the masses at large becoming complacent. You need unity from nonpowerful people to force change from the powerful. That a percentage of the masses became disengaged is the point; not a claim everyone did or would have.
Iβve gotten a form of this reply a lot, and I have to say I donβt understand how my argument implies I donβt understand the struggles of others.
My framework is powerful people are corrupt, throughout history, and the masses must reject the ways they will inherently try to maintain power.
(Only thing I really take issue with here or in other comments about my privilege is the idea Iβm oblivious to it. Of course there are perspectives I canβt possibly understand. I was just sharing some thoughts, not trying to preach to those who know more, or have experienced more.)
Ha, itβs all good. I canβt imagine how you deal with that more regularly, but always enjoy your thoughts on important stuff.
Holy shit @dennycarter.bsky.social quoted me and the mentions are aflame. Legit learning a lot from many thoughtful posts, and then a few people were, letβs say, not fans. Gold medal lands here in a runaway.
Yeah, itβs complicated. Thereβs an βopiate of the massesβ point here where the powerful are going to do what they can to maintain power and itβs up to the masses to not be distracted.
Youβre the man, Robert.

Among other things, four years is just too long for anyone to be in power these days, with history sped up and condensed.
They used to have to get on horses to ride through the night to pick a new leader, sure that shit made sense 200 years ago.
