No way! Yeah, he's ace. That's just super smart as well, what a great time to be broadcasting a cheeky bit of love at the EU. Total champ.
A very sensible and practical set of recommendations from Tony Vaughan. The asylum system needs reform. Mahmoodโs proposals are not it.
And now we have to have a conversation about GDPRโฆ

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
She was doing so well...
Update: I tested one. An actual human being (as far I can tell, name/photo on the internet etc) who was concise, polite and reasonable - but it was a paid for promotional thing. So that's all of those going in the spam forever more...
I remains several generations behind the curve, and distracted by Blippo+.
Looking forward to a solid percentage of genre disappearing in to Slay the Spire 2 very shortly.....
it's World Book Day, so what are you waiting for? buy my book! celebrate World Book Day by buying my book! my weird cyberpunk existential detective odyssey featuring talking magpies, reality-warping jungle records, and Nazis getting dismembered by robots. hope school don't object to my son's costume
There seem to be new husks of book clubs online as well - things with websites and supposed communities, but not much trail I can identify beyond that. As Scalzi says, I might have tossed a little baby with the bath water, but it's too time-consuming to be worth identifying what's legit.
Coming soon! The 404 Ink Bursary for small presses and accompanying crowdfunder will launch in mid-March. This will give away at least ยฃ3,000 to small presses - we hope to raise more to pay it forward to even more people.
It is extremely tiresome. Especially because if they took even 2 minutes to find out who I am they would have realised I'm really not the easy target they're looking for...
I've had precisely 1 short story out since 11th Feb and I've lost track of how many 'book club' invites I've had. Exhausting really, and I'm not clear where they got my personal email from - I've had to assume brute-forcing it.
No administration with a moral core would have put these plans forward, let alone try to enact them without a vote. Once these proposals are in place, they will not be reversed. Make them think again iandunt.substack.com/p/can-we-ext...
Today!!
Iโm a sucker for anything SCP coded.
Did you play Control? Feels like it shares some mechanics with that with the bullet/grenade catches.
Sorry, I will get back to saying nice things about books soon. Just feels like a significant day.
These people are poison. They will unleash racist thugs on the streets of this country and call it security. They will subjugate us to the US and call it patriotism. They must be stopped. There is no more important task in politics.
Labour obvs need a different political strategy nationally because the Denton & Gorton split microcosm of failing to compete for young voters, graduates, liberals, renters + progressives while struggling to compete for dissatisfied voters as well as Lab24 swing voters to right applies across England
Based on what I've seen, I like the plumber more than the hypnotist.
I doubt could ever win General Election if only a third of the population trust that you are not motivated by racism and prejudice (just 35% of white British and one in six ethnic minorities)
Might get 30-33% within that 35% pool but a majority will rally around your opponent in many places
Reform are certainly not going to take the lesson "we are not sufficiently trusted on foundations of race, reputation and Britishness" within minority groups nor by many of the white British and so we risk hitting a 1/3 ceiling by being Trump polarisers in Britain
A very, very public change in the Home Office would also help
Just destabilised the school run with TOND, a ghost story podcast from Broken Veil. Very nicely done, that, really good at ramping up the tension. Definitely recommended.
I don't know all the intricacies of it, but yes, having a low-but-achievable threshold to enter Parliament feels sensible.
Don't know about you, but I'm having a great time with Otaku on NTS.

(And yes, I do realise PR would mean all those Reform voters get representation in Parliament. It's not about closing out a political party I don't like (and I really don't), it's about addressing a system that distorts everything.)
Whatever the result in Gorton and Denton, everything I hear about the polling makes the case for proportional representation stronger, to me. The idea of a 60% left/progressive vote split 50/50 between two parties giving an extreme right candidate a real chance at winning is insane.
This is A Good Book!
