Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."
Brooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley: "We're hearing people being stopped with no cause & being demanded to show paperwork to determine if they're here legally. We started hearing from our police officers the same complaints. Every one of these individuals is a person of color... it has to stop"
I flew down to south Texas today to do my job - investigate why people are dying in ICE detention centers.
I was just illegally denied entry to Dilley Detention Center. Because they have something to hide.

Alpacas in a pen.
On the Alpaca farm near Hamilton.
Traveled to Kiruna, Sweden to see the lights and it was overcast. Still had a great time. I brought back a kilogram of iron ore pellets. I don't know why.
Love this. Cool.
OPINION: Last month, UNESCO designated Italian cuisine part of the world’s “intangible cultural heritage.”
But behind this evident soft power win also lies a political agenda.
The CPB didn't make any shows. They were a distribution system for public funds. The public broadcasting stations in the US are very independent and mostly locally funded, but stations in poorer and rural areas will probably hurt more.

The Extraction project has a Bluesky account.
Strange as it sounds, there does appear to be a valid point here: People who desire censorship will often start with undesirable groups than work their way towards the mainstream.
This has been a time-tested pattern and should be understood clearly.
The faked his death and took the payment from the Russians. Genius.
DHS Says REAL ID, Which DHS Certifies, Is Too Unreliable To Confirm U.S. Citizenship
It's the punch line to a bad joke that started 20 years ago when Congress passed the REAL ID Act.

I also have no instructions for putting money in from outside New Zealand.
I have included no instructions on how to put money into the account, nor have I included a "call to action."
I did have a suggestion that makes it easier to insert the numbers into a particular banking app, but I decided to remove those instructions.
There is no charge for this on either end if both people have New Zealand bank accounts. Recently the system has been updated to be almost instant.
Here in New Zealand we have a payment system that will be alien to most Americans, but is similar to what's in most other countries. Here a payee gives out their bank account number freely, and then anyone may put money into the account.
I used a "free" website and did not purchase my own URL. I say free in quotes because the company's URL is part of my free URL and there is a little tiny "made by ..." text at the bottom of the page.
This is what is called economic rent. All of these payment services are trying to position themselves to get a cut of every sale.
For example, a company might provide a service that allows the seller to accept credit card payments. This make someone more likely to purchase, but there is a cost. Some payment service companies charge the buyer, but usually they charge the seller and pass the cost on down to the buyer.
Payment services reduce this friction by making payment easier or making it seem easier.

People who deal with sales talk about "friction." In this context friction are all the little things that make the sale difficult, and may cause the buyer to not buy. Payment is the biggest source of friction.
I've been looking into online payments and came up with this art project addressing economic rent in payment systems. Additional explanation follows.

LA/NYC need to book these artists who are ditching the "Trump Kennedy Center" at special venue concerts to help them out. Some of these artists don't make a lot of money annually and the performances they're canceling is a huge percentage of their income. They shouldn't lose that for standing up.
