Climate laws shouldn't be the first place state policymakers look to cut costs because in the long run the costs of climate inaction will dwarf any short-term savings. (1/)

EU spokesperson says EU wants to prioritise destruction of the climate over helping Ukraine because Orban should always be the voice of Europe.

What is the EU even doing?

That’s 61% ‼️ lower for solar alone.

Yet the NZ government wants to import LNG instead.

Is that economic competency?

Wrote this in 2019. Didn't think it would happen this fast.

"When it comes to the long-term economics of power generation, it isn’t a fair fight. There is no clear way natural gas can compete with renewables on an economic basis in the coming decades."

Can't wait for a few year's time when $54 billion dollars worth of roads and a new LNG terminal will have made our dependence on volatile fossil fuels a thing of the pas... Oh. Oh crap.

It’s going to be pure cinema watching Luxo tie himself in knots trying to explain how the current oil led rapid rise in inflation caused by the Iran war is different from the one in 2022 caused by the Ukraine invasion. Strap in, you’re about to hear some absolute bullshit.

Tracking the giant residents of the south Taranaki Bight A blue whale research project in the South Taranaki Bight has highlighted the area’s importance to them, and helped with developing an app that tracks their movements.

“Our evidence has clearly shown there are New Zealand Aotearoa blue whales, and the South Taranaki Bight is crucial to them for feeding, breeding and raising their calves."

Imagine a parallel world where NZ had spent the last 2 years doing everything possible to reduce fossil fuel dependency in energy and transport. We’d have lower climate pollution and a more resilient economy. Instead the Govt subsidised fossil fuels and now we are exposed to Trump’s madness.

Crude has risen 65% since mid Dec!

This is the bit where the National Govt blame 'foreign forces' for pushing up inflation (unlike the global inflation spike during Labour's time in office).

EVERYTHING is about to go through the roof price wise. EVERYTHING

GOOD NEWS! Researchers at Stanford University have developed a UNIVERSAL vaccine known as GLA-3M-052-LS+OVA, that protects against a wide range of respiratory viruses, bacteria AND even allergens. The vaccine is delivered intranasally AND provides broad protection in the lungs for several MONTHS.

Humanity heating planet faster than ever before, study finds Researchers identify sharp rise to about 0.35C every decade, after excluding natural fluctuations such as El Niño

The Guardian on our new study, which shows that global heating is significantly gathering speed. Our efforts to overcome our fossil fuel addiction should do the same.

What financial measures will you take Finance Minster Willis and PM Luxon as the wheels are about to come off?
Guess you're realising now Climate adaptation Minister Watts and Transport Minster Bishop electrification wasn't so silly and delay tactics may seriously backfire... 🙄

Ruakākā Energy Park | Meridian Energy Ruakākā Energy Park combines a 100-megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS), currently under construction, and a proposed 120-megawatt solar farm located near Marsden Point in Whangārei.

I get what you mean, but technically the current use of Marsden Point is part of the answer:

If you're doomscrolling, guess what? So far there are 51 kākāpō chicks hatched and thriving this season, the same number of birds as we had in TOTAL in the 90s! Only one chick has died and there are still fertile eggs waiting to hatch!

Solar power is just not feasible
Neither is wind, and its tremendous fumes
And what the hell are batteries? Whoever heard of batteries? How is that even a thing?
Electric vehicles?
Ridiculous tree huggers
How can you save a planet, FFS?
Where's the profit?

Just when you think it can’t get any worse, Luxon’s lot are going to kill the Clean Car Standard.

At a time when fuel prices are rising and emissions have to come down.

Russia is the only other OECD country without these standards, it’s BONKERS.

So, BYD can recharge their new cars in 5 minutes (10-70%) with 1500kW? 🤯

That's an insane amount of power in an incredibly short amount of time.

Technology is pretty amazing! 💪
