(Talking specifically about the spyro ones here)

What I find even cooler is that it looks like these aren't textures since that would probably be too heavy for the PS1. Just one mesh with very intentionally setup vertex colors, with vertices placed specifically to blend colors just the right way to evoke a background. Awesome stuff.
Been working on lighting and dressing a bit, Godot's height-fog is a *very* welcome feature π
I think(?) I saw that it was already being worked on but disabling selection from backfaces would be really nice, right now working on interiors is a bit of a nightmare.
Sadly no plans for that for now :/
Ok it's midnight, let's wrap things up and go to bed early this t- oh it's 3AM

2016: wow all these new technologies will allow me to make so many cool video games!!

Friday means a new video from #ZeEmpireChannel (usually) !! In this week's video, I review @ccharnul.bsky.social's masterpiece Hypogea! What a wonderful experience. Take a gander and thanks for watching youtu.be/MZ_z7ui_2x4?...
Finished! This one specifically will go on sale with our art group.
The theme was dream, so I thought about PKDβs best known work and then my brain went towards computer motherboards π
Also it has 32G memory(wait what
Another shot from my Mirrorβs Edge-inspired scene.
Iβve updated the lighting and post-process to bring back a cooler blue tone while still maintaining the impression of bright sunlight.
Yes it's Godot! Really recommend looking into those if you haven't, it's not a hugely complicated system but it's a game-changer when you want to make more complex character controllers or enemy behaviors. I used this tutorial when starting out : youtu.be/ow_Lum-Agbs
Godot screenshot showing the states of a boss enemy. The node list reads: - State Machine - - WalkToTarget - - ComboA - - DashAttack - > PushBackSeq - > MidLifeCrisis - > DoubleDash - - Death - - WallPushBack
Also not going to spoil too much but having fun with boss design

I still really want to do a multiplayer thing at some point but it really needs a more specifically multiplayer focused design. Besides, I'm already trying to ship ToTD on a new engine AND in a shorter time than Hypogea so probably don't need to add multiplayer to the mix.
Been (over)thinking about the game's design the last few weeks and after much thought I'm going to cut multiplayer from Tower of the Deep. Right now it slows down production, doesn't really offer any cool multiplayer interactions and just messes up the design overall.
Had a week off last week so I made a melee attack set
Left click attacks move forward
Right click attacks move backward

Thanks, glad that you enjoyed the game! π
Iβm reworking my Mirrorβs Edge-inspired scene.
Iβve switched to UE5.7 (right). The lighting and reflections feel more accurate, and the ambient occlusion is improved overall.
Iβve also reduced the strong blue fog and shifted the mood toward a warmer palette.
A Roland Echo machine with its casing opened and showing the loose magnetic tape within it that is used to self-record and playback a sound with a delay to create a repeating echo.
A spring-reverb device showing multiple springs in-between its sound input and output. Very simple and crude looking.
I am fascinated by early delay and reverb sound effects, which basically were tape recorders with a loose magnetic tape in the casing, self-recording and replaying itself to add an echo.
Or reverd being basically just a spring propagating a sound through it.
OMG Hypogea robot hiiiii β¨
Tried the NES thing inspired by @batfeula.bsky.social
Did the Hypogea robot by @ccharnul.bsky.social
I did a very small one and then realized that I could go bigger and went too big.
i dont think one thing should replace discord, i think like three things at minimum should replace discord. it being an All-in-One app has ruined so many parts of online.
