Such a shame the Octopus Energy are lowering the Outgoing Octopus export unit rate from 15p to 12p from 1st March - just when the days start to get longer. Not unsurprising I suppose. It's a slippery slope downwards though.
Agree that the loopholes need to be removed for the very wealthy though.
But the person inheriting it can't "have a scheme to get out of it". The person who's now dead needed to do that! Also, if just over is say Β£1.1M, then the person inheriting it gets Β£1.06M and the tax man gets Β£40k. I don't think I'd be complaining in that scenario! </2p>
Recent Data (2022-23): 4.62% of UK deaths had an Inheritance Tax liability.
IHT generally affects the wealthiest members of society, as it applies only to the portion of an estate above the tax-free thresholds (currently up to Β£1M).
With the above context, it sounds like a sensible tax to me.
So hard. Between a few of us we've managed 8 but there was some Google action on my part!
Second time vs twice. n vs n*n
Okay, redeading it and I'm now on your side! The headline is wrong.
The headline seems correct to me. I get what you are saying though. The odds of winning once is n and the odds of winning it twice is n*n. But the chance of winning it the second time in osolation is just n.
+1 for Synology. It's great to run Docker containers too e.g. MariaDB for my Home Assistant system.
I'll try and take some GF ones off you!
Did that help you understand the complexities of device segmentation in a home setting?
The first of two new chapters starts today as our eldest has just been dropped off at @bristoluni.bsky.social Luckily she's only an hour or so away. Missing her already.
"On Monday 8th September the market auction we use to calculate your Agile Octopus rates (EPEX HH) isnβt running. Therefore, weβll be using the same unit rates that applied the 24 hours before.
Stay Agile,
Smart Tariffs Team"
4 of 4 phones in the family went off within a minute or so of each other.
My simple solution is to drill downwards from inside to out. That way inside is uphill! You could also seal with silicone sealant for belt and braces. I'm no expert in this though.
They are not the same thing. Arial is a typeface. Arial Bold 12pt is a font. Honestly though, who cares!
I think for me it was a great place to pick up information form highly talented individuals and links to really interesting blogs or presentations they had found/created. I do miss it for that, but don't miss what it became. It's weird how when you met people IRL you felt you already knew them!
It's the first time I've come across this guy - no idea who he is but will watch a few more at some point. Top tip though, don't try and read the comments - it's depressing how polarised opinions are.
This is such a good video - by the way, the only car I have is a petrol Ford Focus...

Thanks, I can see some of the export credit and I'll give it a few days to see if the rest arrives.
@octopus.energy I sent an email a couple of days ago because, since switching to Outgoing Octopus on 23rd April, I'm not seeing any solar export credit to my account. I've not yet had a response but hopefully someone can look into this for me?
That took me longer to get than I'd like to admit!
Love mine, but each to their own I guess π
That's one hell of a distance - what an athlete...

I was worried he was starting from the wrong continent for a second!
What a game. I think my stress levels have reduced now! Great atmosphere at Twickenham and we'll played Tigers.

Agreed, we need to keep our whits about us when using the roads. People need to feel the consequences of illegal actions.
Funny, I drove about 4 miles across the city and saw 2 cars jump red lights. It's not the mode of transport, it's got a lot to do with people's poor attitudes and lack of enforcement.
Sadly, I fear that making the road surface better will just make people drive faster. It's already a nightmare for speeding. Very rarely do I see people driving even close to the 20mph limit.
