Sad to awake to the news about the deaths of Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa and their dog yesterday.

It should come as no surprise that for me it’s his potrayal as astronaut Buzz Lloyd in the 1969 movie “Marooned.”

NASA selected Boeing and SpaceX to develop and certify commercial crew vehicles in September 2014. The goal was to have US redundancy.
Crew Nine is the first real world example of the wisdom of that decision. This patch is a celebration of Commercial Crew.

In the fall of 1985, I wrote to every woman astronaut asking for contributions for scrapbooks I was creating for my niece and daughter.
OTD in 1986 Judy Resnik wrote this note for my niece. Ten days after writing it she was killed aboard Challenger.
I’ll never forget her kindness.
EVERY social media app can be weaponized. Tik Tok is no more dangerous than FB, IG, Threads, X or Blue Sky.
Since 2016 I have had the pleasure to create the official emblem for Space Congress. I have enjoyed seeing the event grow each year.

OTD 47 years ago a new breed of NASA Astronauts was announced.
The first of them flew in 1983 and the last (Steve Hawley) flew in 1999.
I’m grateful to say some became friends and all of them generously provided inspiration.
