It’s not just that the segments appear to be separating. It’s also that the separated segment of flyover seems to be shifting to the left. It’s not in alignment. The contractor I spoke with estimated it was about 7 inches out of alignment. You can see it here —

I just drove by to check out the 35 to 290 flyover myself (by Highland ACC) after having seen numerous Reddit posts. A guy who posted one of the photos, who happens to be a contractor, was there when I was. He explained what he thinks is happening. He thinks TxDOT is hiding something.

Just did a loop around north and central Austin. Roads seem OK - went on 3 highways, 3 flyovers, through downtown, to the east side and back north to Q2 stadium area. That said, temps are dropping fast and more precipitation is on the way. Roads will prob get bad within hours.

TXDOT. We gotta stop closing lanes for construction during rush hour. This is crazy. Road signs say right two lanes are closed for construction. That’s how I know.

Saw fire trucks, police cars etc at every overpass between Kyle and Austin while driving from San Antonio tonight. Some trucks had American flags hoisted up.
