Yeah, I remember when I got my copy of CTR in ‘08 and noticed how much cleaner the art renders looked. Hadn’t really paid attention when I was a kid, and I think we just rented CTR once or twice way back in the day.

And then these definitely look like frames from the in-game model animations, just poly'd up. I remember seeing the crawling animation close up in CrashEdit and he's doing that same evil-looking grin (4th image)

I swear they used to use actual photos of teeth for the hi-poly Crash renders

This is one of the most 1999 things I've ever seen, inside and out. The shirts and jackets look so much like the stuff I used to see in elementary school

The game's graphics were basically cel-shaded 3D that closely matched the cutscenes, but not quite. The graphics were somewhere between late PS2 and early PS3.

But apparently it was a very successful franchise with like... 15 games?

Just had a dream right before I woke up this morning that there was this famous video game series... it had lots of raunchy humor and 2D animated cutscenes in an artstyle somewhere right between Billy & Mandy and Gravity Falls. It was genuinely funny at times but also pretty gross
