Big SOTA day with five summits in Shenandoah for 49 points total. Surprised at last summit to hear Japanese stations coming back, a first for me on the east coast. Over 1000 miles per Watt! I got rained on a little (a cheap shower cap kept the KX2 dry) overall the weather was good, even too warm.

I had a great time at the W4V #summitsontheair workshop, followed by a fun activation of Hogback. It’s only a short walk from the road so I brought my big iron Elecraft K3 and furniture. The high bands were hopping!

Just updated the frequency synthesizer in ye olde Elecraft K3 to the KSYN3A. Hoping it will help pull out some weak CW sigs

biked to Warren Woods State Park for a POTA activation - tough conditions but managed 11 contacts in just over an hour

A partially populated circuit board
I’ve restarted my build of the Norcal 40A CW transceiver for 40 meters. A while ago I ordered PCBs based on a Gerber file that was shared my a builder group. Using lots of old out-of-production parts that I sourced earlier (check out the air variable trimmer in the bottom right). #amateurradio

Practice tests are a great way to see how ready you are. I’d study a bit on your own and see how close that gets you before committing to a class.

an “AI Overview” of dBm, Volts, and Watts that claims both 20 dBm and 50 dBm correspond to 100 W
in case anyone needs another reason not to trust AI
