What? Larger than Nuremberg?

Write about what you know, they say. In my working life, I spent somef time dealing with the police, mostly helping students who'd been mugged/flashed at. As I helped them make statements, I notliced many police have poor spelling. So this is in two of my books:
1. Everything that begins to exist has a cause.
2. The universe began to exist.
3. Therefore the universe has a cause and that cause is God.
NOT SO FAST!
Every one of these statements is open to challenge.

Turns out most members of Reform UK are a bunch of racists.
Gosh. Who would have thought it?

This is Ross, protagonist of my novel The Omega Course, tormented by the fact that he has caused an accident in which another driver died.
Satan is an attempt to solve the problem of evil by giving God an antagonist. This was projected onto The Satan, one of God's lackeys in the Hebrew Bible.
As for Lucifer's rebellion, it's just a Jewish take on a pagan legend about the planet Venus.

An excerpt from The Omega Course. Ross is going home from the police station after being informed that the driver who was injured in the accident he caused has died.

Jorge Luis Borges wrote a brilliant short story about what a curse immortality would be. Anyone who looks forward to an afterlife stretching trillions of years into eternity would do well to read it.

I researched the accident with many terrifying hours of watching YouTube dashcam videos of traffic accidents. I have been a more cautious driver ever since.
The inciting incident in The Omega Course is a traffic accident. I drew on something that happened in real life - I was once about to overtake when I looked in my mirror and was shocked to see another car overtaking me at speed.
What if I hadn't looked in the mirror?
I started blogging seriously in early 2024, mostly looking at religious issues from a not-very-rabid atheist point of view. Mostly, I do it for the pleasure of exploring a question and learning more about it.
Here's one I did on the fine tuning argument.

My novel The Omega Course isn't a romantic novel, but if your protagonist is a 17-year-old, affairs of the heart are going to be part of the story. And maybe some of my regrets from that time will inform my writing...

I donβt see your point. If an atheist gets nasty with theists, you can call them an anti theist.
But they may not use that term. Soviet museums of atheism were called museums of atheism, not museums of anti-theism. The League of Militant Atheists wasnβt the League of Militant Anti-Theists.
Of course not. But surely anti-theist is a sub-category of atheism.
Unfortunately we human beings can turn just about anything into a reason for hating each other.
Maybe. Many atheists are anti-theists without using the word. Hitchens regarded himself as both.
The leader of Atheists UK is very much an anti-theist but his organisation doesnβt use the word.
One of my blog posts that gets most hits is "Has anyone ever been killed in the name of atheism?" It comes up on page one on Google.
Though I am an atheist, I say that yes, an awful lot of people have been murdered in the name of atheism.

When writing The Omega Course, one thing I had to do was get in the head of my 17-year-old protagonist. One way was to adopt their means of communication, so some dialogue is messaging.
Doing the layout wasn't easy!

When I first joined Twitter in 2013, something I enjoyed was Steven Tiger's humane critique of Christian apologists.
Sadly, Steven Tiger left Twitter soon after Musk took over, but I read his excellent book Doctrine Impossible and loved his ideas on rationality and faith:

Interesting post.
Does this also apply when the President is a narcissistic sociopath?
As Christmas approaches, perhaps itβs a good time to ask how reliable the story of the nativity is.
(Spoiler alert: it isnβt.)

Iβm of the opinion that society works better if we all try to take a wider view than our own narrow self interest. Am a libertarian? Most definitely not.
Re climate choices: there are trade-offs involved, eg huge numbers of people rely on global tourism for their income but it generates lots of CO2
