There Is No Housing Affordability Without Building More Housing If we make it easier to build dense housing in cities, then the resulting supply boost will ease the cost burden on renters and put homeownership within closer reach for millions of households.

Every couple of months or so, someone puts out a piece of bad social science meant to undermine the case for more housing. For Roosevelt Institute, I wrote a blog post responding to the two most recent specimens. rooseveltinstitute.org/blog/there-i...

Attacking people makes them far less defensive, hostile, and reactionary, duh, it's just human psychology.

Transpo folks! 🚲

I'm studying changes in non-automobile street infrastructure that have gradually hardened over time (ex: bike lanes developing from nothing ➡️ paint ➡️ flexposts ➡️ physical barriers).

Do you have any examples? Pedestrian plazas, bike lanes, bus lanes, other projects done or in dev?

Clarifying: I understand the regime does not fall immediately after the death of the leader. But what happens next here to ensure a new government is formed in its place and how does the violence get us there?

Question for those smarter on international relations than I am:

If the U.S. has killed the supreme leader in Iran, among other top officials, what is the continued bombing campaign for? And why no declaration of support for the revolutionary leader?

Pessimistic reasons notwithstanding.

By Tesla's own math, it reveals that its robotaxis are 4x worse at driving than humans, with redactions hiding even more details | Fortune By NHTSA standards, the Tesla Robotaxis are 8x worse than human drivers.

About every 57k miles driven by Musk’s robotaxis one gets into a wreck. That’s four times the rate of humans.

If you’re wondering about the city we’re building here in Austin:

Here’s a view out of the packed-to-capacity TRAIN we rode from downtown to the Austin FC match, with families (including precious littles!!) arriving safely via BIKE. Plus free bike valet to park around the corner!

Fun fact: the US has been at continual war since 1945 and *not a single one of these wars*, from the Korean War to Vietnam to Iraq to Iraq again, was ever declared war by Congress.

The last time the US Congress declared war was 1942. 83 years ago.

Really enjoyed this. More than a history of NYC econ devt, it fundamentally questions the "growth-is-always-good" paradigm that still dominates urban policy & planning. As a teaser, here are some brief excerpts from the book that I think are highly relevant for urban policy and planning folks today.

Loving Texas means fighting for all of Texas. @jamestalarico.bsky.social knows that, speaks on that, acts on that. He’s a fighter who stands on strong ground.

Early voting is happening NOW; Election Day is 3/3. Let’s send Talarico to the U.S. Senate.

He’s a Texas legend in the making.

Leftist voting discourse is a great example of online discourse polarization. A bunch of liberals did sincere Get Out The Vote posts and now there’s a subset of the online population that sneer at voting reflexively and have to come up with a moral justification for it.
