I used to think FIREFLY was a good show until I watched it again a few years ago. Yikes. Whedon’s commitment to equating the Confederacy with heroic sci-fi freedom fighters was bad enough. His eagerness to spout sexist shit and say “it’s ok because our sexist is charming” was nails on chalkboard.
This right here. I see a lot of "but I don't understand!" being thrown around, when the reason seems pretty clear! You can dislike the decision, but recognize the reasoning behind it.

I don't know, folks. I have Tourette's (relatively mild, no vocal tics) and have spent many hours with other folks who have Tourette's of varying degrees of severity... and this isn't really adding up. If his tics include shouting racial slurs at people, he should have politely declined this event.
