Trump was probably counting on ICE attacking protesters

Because the violence serves two purposes

It backs his claim that blue states are lawless, overrun by immigrant β€œinvaders”

And shifts the media from the fact that his Disgusting Abomination Bill will take Medicaid away from millions of people

Other accounts from women collected by various local media outlets describe how they were forced to spend hours β€” up to 16 in some cases β€” with tight chains around their wrists, chests, and hips on buses outside the facilities without water, food, or access to bathrooms. The accounts, which cover different dates, concur that guards instructed them to urinate or defecate inside the buses, and that some women had no choice but to do so.

This is an enormous theftβ€”not just privatizing a government function with a worse and more expensive for-profit substitute, but also a massive government financial data heistβ€”and on the other side of it everyone needs to end up broke and imprisoned to deter them and others from doing it again.

The protests are not for Trump to see, they are so you can all see each other and grow. It's not the protest itself that tyrants are afraid of, but the networks and community you can grow from them. Your strength is your unity and that's why the enemy thrives by demoralizing and dividing you. #3E

If CBP asks for your opinion of Trump, that is *not* the moment to be forthright. Say you don’t follow politics. Say you aren’t paying much attention. Say you like him. Don’t say you don’t.

It is SO unusual for the Supreme Court to issue an order this late at night and honestly incredible only Thomas and Alito noted their dissents.

Also fascinating that SCOTUS rushed out the order before Alito could finish writing his dissent. That basically never happens! Againβ€”majority seems pissed.

Wilmer only found out his son had been detained after receiving a phone call on March 15 from his nephew, Luis, who lives with them. That morning was their last time together; they had gone around the corner to do their laundry. Later that day, Wilmer said that his son met with a friend to get help with some errands at the American Red Cross. He learned this from Luis, who looked at the situation from inside the apartment: when his son was on his way back, just steps from his home when ICE agents stopped him. β€œThe officers grabbed him and two other boys right at the entrance to our building. One said, β€˜No, he’s not the one,’ like they were looking for someone else. But the other said, β€˜Take him anyway.'”

That moment marked the beginning of Wilmer’s search for answers β€” answers he’s still waiting for.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind.

An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one."

The other said, "Take him anyway."

So they did.

WATCH-- @chrislhayes.bsky.social: For the vast majority of Americans, life doesn't feel that unfree or different. But the Trump administration wants to take advantage of that sense of normalcy to strip away all our liberties. That is why the fate of Kilmar Abrego Garcia matters to all of us.

The next step for Trump is to send a US citizen convicted of something like child murder and rape to CECOT in El Salvador. It'll set the precedent to send citizens there while neutralizing outrage over it because of the heinous nature of their crimes. Then it'll any felony and then protestors.

Despite what you’ve probably heard, Trump’s immigration agenda isn’t actually popular. While Americans sometimes approve of β€œthe way he is handling immigration” in abstract, they are very negative on the details.

Four R senators and four R House members could announce they're caucusing with the Dems for now, and will vote for Schumer for Majority Leader and Jeffries for Speaker, because the threat to the rule of law is dire. Meanwhile, they'll work with Democrats to construct guardrails against dictatorship.

The Trump DOJ continues to stonewall and last night offered a laughably minimalist view of its obligation to "facilitate" the return to the US of a mistakenly deported El Salvadoran man. Yet so far SCOTUS has treated the Trump regime as though it is a normal presidential administration. DetailsπŸ‘‡
