The academic universe is smiling upon me today: a paper proposal due tomorrow is going better than I expected, and a quiz that was supposed to be next week got pushed out because the teacher realized we're all busy with mid reviews.
Absolutely! And everyone seems to know each other. In one season a contestant literally just texted the PM, who RESPONDED.
Surely someone said enough was enough and got a job off the farm at some point π
I finally caved and ordered the refills in bulk π¬
Taskmaster NZ!
Number 2 is my favorite for playing Russian roulette with ink explosions
But I go through a pen every month or so in school, so I have a bunch of the pilot G2s and buy refill ink for them. It's not the perfect pen, but it's a very pleasant writing experience when you're burning through them.
Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
did they dip this site into a pool too
I wish I knew more about my family's work history! I know there's a good number of engineering types on both sides, my great grandpa on my mom's side was military in North Africa (yikes, Portuguese colonialism), but other than that I'm not sure. My great aunt Norma ran a dairy farm, though!
I'd like to think that the group would have come to the same decision regardless, but I'm glad I finally said yes, that actually would make me feel more comfortable and heard in a space specifically for disabled students.
I recognize I am an extremely rare holdout in that I have been so hardline anti-AI that I have still yet to use a chatbot willingly, but uh, I feel like every other story I read is about how all the consumer-facing stuff is a mental illness particle accelerator www.theguardian.com/technology/n...
UPDATE: thereβs an entry about the rat hole of Chicago!!!!!! This book is incredible!!!!!!!!!
Polymarket has created a market that would monetize a nuclear attack amid increasing concerns that bets are happening among government insiders who can make military decisions.
What stage of the apocalypse is this?
polymarket.com/event/nuclea...
This is similar to the disabled students group we formed last semester. So far there is exactly one (1) cis guy, and he's a total hot mess neurodivergent sweetheart who we must protect at all costs. Also not white, because it would take a fucking miracle for a cis white guy to bother joining.
Influencer's fleeing Dubai right now.
So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:
- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.
A screenshot of the Polymarket website showing a prediction market titled "Nuclear weapon detonation by...?" under the Geopolitics and Ukraine categories. The market displays three betting options with their current probabilities and "Buy Yes" or "Buy No" prices: "March 31" at 5%, "June 30" at 12%, and "Before 2027" at 22%. The total trading volume shown is over $843,000.
Polymarket has created a betting market on the use of nuclear weapons. Everyone involved in this should be put in prison for life.
Did the tiniest amount of self advocacy today and finally just agreed when someone offered to make a recurring meeting masked instead of just saying I'm used to being the only masked person in the room. It's a meeting of disabled students yet it was still mostly maskless.
please sum up the electoral bench of the contemporary Republican Party
I know that I sound like a broken record but I think once this society was ok with accepting mass covid deaths just to be able to eat at Applebees then all bets were off.
Congratulations Substack on your new partnership with Polymarket!
And to those publishing on Substack, is this really the tool you want from the folks who take part of your revenue?
Did you know that the bees that need saving are NOT honeybees?
Honeybees are the dairy cows of bees. People brought them over from Europe to make us honey.
The problem with honeybees, esp in resource-limited ecosystems (like hey! cities!) is that they compete with our native bees for food.
I feel like that would be tantalizing close to my sister in Toronto without actually being close enough to make visiting easy π
Oh damn! Well that's amazing, thank you!
Thank you! I do love baked goods.
Excellent, thank you! I'm not gluten free but I'm low FODMAP, so I have to limit gluten (and a lot of things) so sometimes gluten free baked goods are safer for me, but I have to check ingredients pretty closely. I'd be happy to get recommended in any case!
Also maple syrup for sweetness! It was gray/brown but it tasted good.
