The best way to get the most out of someone is to make them feel secure enough where they can take risks and fail.
Most of us don't reach our potential because we default to protective mode.
Threatening & demanding makes us protect further. Security and belonging frees us up.
This is massively disappointing, especially for the U.S. athletes who qualified for the team—Taylor Roe, Emma Grace Hurley, and Amanda Vestri in the half marathon, and Krissy Gear and Karissa Schweizer in the mile.

Remembering marathoner Sally Meyerhoff who died 14 years ago yesterday, killed by a motorist while cycling. She was just a terrific person, and was just 27 years-old. The motorist was never charged.
