The conditions for northern lights were crazy last night... I've never seen it hit 10 before. This was stronger than the storm in may two years ago.
I wish i could've seen more than the clouds just being tinted a deep red but it was too overcast to see any structure.

The finished 3d printable Wimshurst machine. You can see the nice copper sectors on the discs (only the front disc is visible) that create a bunch of capacitors to the back disc. Because the discs are counter rotating the capacitance between the discs rises and falls. When you got a capacitor charged and you move the plates apart the capacitance gets lower. Since you put work in and you got a set charge the voltage rises. Since one side affects the other it's owlso called influence machine. It seperates and amplifies charges by mechanical turning of the discs and creates several kilovolts of static electricity that way.

I finished the wimshurst machine. Now i just gotta get it to run
