not the important thing happening here, but just an unhinged use of "the yips"
Mutely upon the doorpost prints a kiss,
Then passes out for ever.

that question (I'm also asked all the time) irritates me so much. I've reached the point where I either allow my irritation to show or I say: why are you asking that?
gutting news
when I taught in study abroad, we lived across Athole Gardens from this building. best neighborhood ever. my kids still talk about it all the time
In elementary school we watched The Red Balloon every time we had a substitute teacher
I know was it means but I think Iβve only ever read it, as opposed to hearing it actually used, which makes me think itβs an old fashioned phrase (?). Iβd never use it, no
if I understand correctly (a big IF), in British English, if you "bottle it" you fail at the finish, or lose your courage. but to "have bottle" is to have courage or confidence
this is a less extreme version of my confusion over when "bottle" is good & when "bottle" is bad
while neither Irish nor potatoes, actually pretty nice. I have only ever seen them in Philly

my lawyer (don't ask) told me that the worst thing your lawyer can say to you is "this is an interesting case." but I think my lawyer was wrongβ
this poem makes me want to punch myself in the face
Deep parallel ridges on a hill. Short grass with rushes and some rocks scattered on the land. A wire fence is on the hilltop with clear skies behind the hill.
Lazy beds on the fields above Clew Bay in Mayo this morning. Tenant farmers used these ridges to grow potatoes in the 1800s & after the famine decimated the population many were abandoned. βLazyβ is a misnomer - it required immense physical labour to create the beds on the rocky marginal soil.

I certainly donβt watch soccer (apologies) & American football in the same way (I much prefer soccer). Am football has lots of relaxation & conversation time built in. You can go make a sandwich between plays etc. Iβd never attempt to grade papers with soccer on, for example

In an Irish context this was called βfelon settingβ; a favourite tactic of Dublin Castle to punish via RIC/DMP visits to employers & landlords. But after #EasterRising Irish Times eagerly leaped to print detailed lists leaked to them, not realising how this would soon be a roll of honour #spΓ©irgorm
The same thing happened to me when I asked about menopause at an annual checkup. $150.
I was sent for additional bloodwork due to family history, & when my results were normal I was charged for it (only would have been covered if they were abnormal). But how can one know w/out the tests?
wow, thank you! I'm honored. I'll message it to you : )
I am really looking forward to reading this book! congratulations!
