Thank you for all the feedback on my latest piece! 🫶 I was initially really discouraged from posting it after the response the sketch received, but I'm proud of the result and that I trusted my vision.

Perfectionism is the creativity killer. Perfectionism is the little doubt that whispers "is this any good?"
I will permit the imposter syndrome to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, only a "fuck it, we ball" will remain.
Additionally: build a community, not a fanbase. Talk to other artists. Comment on pieces that inspire you. The most valuable thing I've gained in the short time I've been doing this full-time is a community of creatives who can all uplift eachother. Networking is so important.
As someone who doesn't have art ready all of the time, I sometimes take pictures of stickers I make on backdrops, or time lapses of me working, or sketches, or throwbacks ... there's so much you can do! But you must not stop.
My advice for posting art that may or may not be helpful is truly that you miss every single shot that you do not make. Post every two days. Do not stop. Treat every post like a banger. One day one might be! It took posting consistently for 12 weeks on IG for the algo to like me.

A orca whale fursona whose eyes are actually the “imitation eyes” pattern you see on this species, his name is Saltwater. He is coated with beautiful waves from his shoulders to his tail that come off as sunset-touched clouds. He has a spiked collar with a golden-clip heart locket. He has tight latex pants with a red line hiding the zipper, and latex forearm sleeves on. The harness around his body, aswell as the spiked collar around his tail are holographic foil. He is raising his paw while holding a leash, inviting you to his activities. In the background, Saltwater is smiling. There’s also a close up of his heart locket, with a pair of paws tenderly holding the leash as if to examine it thoughtfully.
