This is my child’s district. Fortunately they have a long track record of standing up for transgender students when attacked by conservative groups and the new school board is extremely supportive. The risk, though, is that the district is already in difficult financial straits.

Trump is now targeting my child’s school district for refusing to discriminate against transgender students. JeffCo has long been a target of anti-trans litigation and has a great track record both standing by students and prevailing in court.

To be quite frank, I’d rather kill myself than detransition. But I think that’s their goal. They want us dead. This is just a step in that process that’s targeted against a population that has already been deprived of the means to fight back.
Essentially, the treatment mandated by this memo amounts to torture for those inmates. Forced detransition is, in the kindest terms, cruel and unusual punishment and contradicts existing standards of transgender medical care.
They also require that prisons revoke any and all gender affirming accommodations trans inmates might have. Including clothing.
Inmates who had prior gender affirming surgeries, which often render their bodies unable to produce primary sex hormones, are likewise to be weened off of HRT. Despite the fact that doing so can have significant health impacts (our bodies generally need either E or T to work correctly).
Inmates that were already diagnosed and began HRT prior to incarceration are to be weened off of their gender affirming medication and similarly stuffed full of antidepressants and sent to “therapy.”
How the following sections require trans inmates to be treated is much worse.
Inmates who are diagnosed with GD will not receive any form of gender affirming care. They will, however, get pumped full of antidepressants and sent to group and/or individual therapy.
These two definitions alone contradict existing medical and scientific understandings and assert that the basic experience of experiencing gender in a way that conflicts with what you were assigned at birth is a psychological issue. And that’s patently false.
The definition of Gender Identity goes much further, asserting that one’s GI is “disconnected from biological reality and sex” and “does not provide meaningful basis for identification and cannot be recognized as a replacement for sex.”
DSM 5 defines GD as “a marked incongruence between one’s experienced/expressed gender and their assigned gender.” It doesn’t include “psychological disorder” or “biological sex.” It doesn’t even mention sex at all! The BOP version replaces assigned gender with a pseudoscientific term!
“…the perceived discrepancy between a person's expressed/experienced gender identity and his or her biological sex.” They imply this is the definition from DSM 5. But it differs from the actual DSM definition in a LOT of crucial ways.
