One of the coolest photos of the lunar eclipse this week generated from over 800 images taken with a portable all-sky imager. You can see the transition of the moon into total eclipse with a very bright auroral substorm reaching overhead. What an amazing experience this was!

I understand why chatbot cheating happens but every time I read about it I want to gently remind everyone that the point of schoolwork is not for the submission to exist. Teachers are not just greedy for more essays or solved equations. The point is to do the work WITH YOUR OWN BRAIN, FOR LEARNING.

There are many interesting and challenging questions about AI and education, but what to do about a student who makes use of this sort of service is really not one of them.

Haha, that's cool. Curling is big in Scotland. There are 22 curling ice rinks in the country I think (maybe more) and schools in some areas teach it as part of physical education curriculum.

The only curling stones allowed at the Olympic Games πŸ₯Œ #curling #winterolympics #ailsacraig YouTube video by Ruth Aisling

Fun fact, all Olympic curling stones and most of the others in the world come from a small Scottish island: youtube.com/shorts/aXYoD...

The sad thing is that the same happened to the Scottish team 4 years ago, they lost the gold on the last throw of the last game.

And UK got nothing in that game - the losing team in the game gets nothing. The total score is the sum of the scores from 10 games.

21.02.2026 22:23 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

No, the score is the number of stones that your team has closer to the white bullseye than the other team at the end of each game. So in game 9, Canada scored 3, because at the end they had 3 stones in the house closer to the centre than UK had.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

To avoid accusations of AI cheating, college students are turning to AI Students are taking new measures, such as dumbing down their work, spying on themselves and using AI β€œhumanizer” programs, to beat accusations of cheating with artificial intelligence.

We're *so* close to some students spending more time to have AI do their work, then use AI to make it not seem like AI and then have AI check it ... all taking more time and money than, you know, doing that actual work.
