how can you sleep?
how can you be asleep?
(American Sign Language (ASL) translation note: The sign for CRISIS is the rising and crossing of the arms with the hands in a “C” formation.)
⠀⠀ Image description via Carlisle: an illustration of ASL for transgender in trans pride flag color. The sign starts with hands almost like high five but slightly bent with thumb a bit inside, as if you’re holding an egg. The hand is placed on chest with side of thumb and index finger touching your chest. Then the hand is moved away from chest with fingers in more closed, the hand is rotated that your palm is facing inward toward your chest. Then last sign is all fingers touching each other at fingertips, with side of your pinkie finger touching the chest. ⠀⠀ #deaftransgender #deaftrans #transgenderdeaf #deafandtrans #transgender #trans #transdayofvisibility #tdov #deafqueer #deaflgbt #deaflgbtq #lgbt #deafqueerart #deaftransart #queerasl #queersigns #americansignlanguage #transisbeautiful⠀

🧵Yesterday, I received notice that my #NIH grant, on the social environment, lifecourse, epigenetics & #birthoutcomes in Black families, was terminated. This grant represented a critical effort to address the ⬆️ rates of maternal & infant mortality in the US, particularly among Black mothers & babies
!
Thanks so much! I look forward to reading it. :)
Might you have a transcript of this talk? Thanks!
Are there ASL-based resources for discussing immigration rights and resources for Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and Hard of Hearing students? Thanks for sharing!
SHARE WIDELY.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.
You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

is there a word for when you are on the cusp of crossing the expanse between you and the space that holds your capacity to create art?

“I feel despondent and overwhelmed by the political situation often, but then I remind myself this is by design, that those in power want to erode our resolve and [for us to] give up.” www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

1) exploring how deaf ed can effect a more just & sustainable society (it’s not by maintaining the status quo) 2) education futures outside of schools
